Teonanactl : Looking without Seeing
I had an amazing mushroom experience last night. One of those moments where everything seems so starkly obvious, reality and non-reality being so much more distinct from each other than in the sober state.
In the midst of this, a thought occurred to me: It's not what you see, it's that you're looking. This idea hit me as the most obvious thing, something incredibly mundane yet ultimately profound. Thoughts? ![]() The Rev

reminds me of this quote:
Henry Miller: The moment one gives close attention to anything, even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself.

Thanks...and thanks!
More than just self-awareness, though. It's awareness awareness. Even the imperative itself, "Look." still focuses awareness into the mind. It's the actual act that brings you to the moment. Not thinking about it, or understanding it, or whatever. Just looking, just listening, without an object to look at or listen to; that would just point your attention back into the mind, with all the ideas of significance and meaning that we substitute for actual experiences of things. ![]() The Rev

too bad most people lack awareness, let alone awareness awareness..i try to be aware of my surroundings, and the people in them, and the feelings of the people in my vicinity of contact, whether that be on the phone, or face to face, more people need to be aware of the impact their actions will have on their surroundings
