That's all bullshit because it makes the assumption that whatever vehicle you're traveling in through the tunnel is going to keep accelerating.

Even if you're in a vehicle that negates all side force friction, the vehicle would still eventually reach a terminal velocity due to drag (unless the tube was a vaccuum) and it would not continue to accelerate. Going out though you're guaranteed a deceleration to zero. The vehicle would never make it out of the tunnel under from the force of gravity alone. Perhaps they talk about this further in the program.
