Dreams, totems, other symbolism

I thought I would start by sharing this personal experience. Then maybe this thread could open to others who have insight to add or want to share their own dreams... whether they have interpreted it or whether they are looking for interpretations/ insights. Here's my "Things that make you go Ommmmm"

A woman at work had expressed that I was interrupting when she was dealing with the boys and wasn't giving her a chance. Of course I acknowledged her feelings, apologized (not sure I should have done that though), and thanked her for letting me know how she felt. However, when I got home this was eating me up and I couldn't sleep. There were allot of thoughts in my head... trying not to belittle her and to acknowledge her feelings while also not really accepting her interpretation as reality/ actuality. I can't get into the whole thing... confidentiality and what-not but my experience and education... and events from the night before that she was unaware of gave me insight into the situation and it was honestly my obligation to 'butt in' but she interpreted it as my 'taking over' when in actuality, the plan was to work together with her. So anyway I talked to Wahuhi (my spirit guide... asking him to lend insight through my dreams) and this dream happened:

There was a cow outside of our window (I think my husband was with me and watching all this with me although he was just 'there'). She was with calf and she was shedding her skin (which apparently was a normal thing for cows to do in my dream...lol). We were worried that she was shedding too early, she was crying and in tremendous pain... very disturbing. We knew that this shed would also lead to the birth of her calf which we also thought would be too early and were worried it would not survive. There was finally an emergence... but it was only a set of legs (2 legs) and no 'body' of the calf... only legs, no head or anything. Then she was 'angry' (?) or very upset and broke through our window. She went to a nursery in the back room (that isn't really there) and looked into the crib. There was then a sense of closure... a 'rest'. When I woke up, I was thinking "All she wanted was to look in the nursery" but these weren't really 'my own' thoughts.

So here's the symbolism that I looked up:

Cow: motherhood- strong and sturdy- when cow shows you should pay attention, observe, and then respond accordingly ALSO: altruism, love, family values, and lunar magic- devotion of motherhood.
Calf: immaturity and inexperience- need to develop certain qualities
Legs: balance- stand up for self (also symbolic of newborn legs... and only two which is human-like... and they were running around)

Interpretation: While looking up the symbolism I realized that the co-worker had told me in the past that she had gone through menopause early and her periods had ended with the birth of her last child.... this was clearly demonstrated by the early shedding of skin and while 'with calf'. I think the birth of the legs was for me because my issue is learning how to stand up for myself. I am developing it... they are 'newborn legs'. Her looking into the crib and finding closure is probably dealing with her... and her insecurity with me at work is probably related to parenting issues (which is closely tied to our line of work and takes skill for a female... and sometimes male... to separate the two). Pretty insightful...

so now I've heard first from Wahuhi, then hawk, tiger, goose, and now cow

I have never asked for guidance from dreams, but I did have an interesting one right around the time my dad died (within a day or two, if not on the exact day he passed).

I was driving up a hill in the town where my dad started his business, the business where I worked from age 19 to 40. I was looking for a freeway on-ramp, but it was so dark, I couldn't see anything. I actually had to reach out of the car door and feel along the ground to find my way. After a bit, I drove out of a mist and looked back down the hill. The mist was very light, and hung over the valley below. I remember the valley was quite beautiful, and the colors very vivid.

I suppose there's all kinds of stuff you could read out of that, but I like to think it was a remnant of my father's experience of dying. At first, he was in the dark, but eventually came to realize that the dark was not so dark at all.

This is great. The thought actually came through my mind this morning to make a dream thread.

Those dreams sound interesting, though I have nothing to offer in terms of interpretation. That's the great thing though, dreams are like an artpiece, be it a film, lyrics, music, painting. All open to your own interpretation and the meaning you want to give them.

I'll add in a couple. One from a about two weeks ago...

I was in a very odd, dark place. I was there with a pretty girl with long dark hair. Like a cliche teen from a horror movie. We pulled up in a car in this forest type place and walked into this old 2 story shack, there was a man in there who had a very dark vibe about him, there was blood everywhere and ropes with nooses hanging from the ceiling. The details get a bit blurred but from there all I remeber is feeling a complete lack of compassion from the place, then I remeber the guy shooting her with a machine gun and seeing in detail the wounds opening and spraying blood. I remeber feeling quite sad. I continued to stay there for a while, looking around downstairs and just feeling dark. Then I woke.

One of the ways I interpreted it was the ending of the my thoughts about a female (who fit the girl's decription in the dream) who asked me to the Debutante Ball back in high school. I had always had a soft spot for her and thought a relatioship could bloom out of the situation, but for some reason was never that interested in high school. At first I said yes but then rejected her a couple of weeks before the ball. Anyway, I always had regrets about that, but recently came to an awakening that it wasn't meant to be. So perhaps that was just a purging of those old thoughts and attachments.

One I had just this morning...

I was in a shopping centre looking for an exit. I had birds eyes map of the place but was still having trouble locating the exit, eventually I came down to the gardening section where there was a groundsman and tending to the plants and talking to this guy, I noticed a big barrell of fresh picked snow peas there that people could freely have a munch on, but there was a great pile of empty shells just sprawled on the floor, and the gardener was expressing his disgust to the other guy about the lazy people who just eat the snow peas but leave their mess behind.

I imagine that's just a reflection of a the general human population. Using and reaping good from the earth while leaving their mess behind without a second thought.

I am a long time lucid dreamer. I have kept a dream journal for over 2 years. I recall at least 3 dreams a night, and achieve lucidity multiple times a week. Lucid Dreaming -- Dream Views aided by cannabis of course > i have learned that most of my dreams are too dumb and random to even bother trying to interpret them.

Awesome dreams. Very beautiful, Rev.

GD, one thing that you posted that is contrary to my experience is that cannabis seems to help you. It definitely hinders me. When I smoked, I would try not to smoke for a couple hours before bed when I planned to do dream work.

Anymore, I'm not as interested in dreaming lucidly. I do think I had a lucid dream last night though. I remember flying around and trying to get around in the trees but the branches kept cracking under me. I hardly remember it. It seems like my lucid dreams are never as productive as non-lucid ones. There may be reason to go back into it at some point in time.

Some of my dreams are rather random but the ones that are relevant 'stand out'... they feel different, are more charged or just really strange (like the cow dream). Twice recently I've asked my guide for help through my dreams (I don't do it often) and both times I have got what I asked for. Neither dream was pleasant though

I had a really amazing dream about 5 nights ago. Kinda went in stages.

I was out in one of the areas where I used to ride dirtbikes. But it was different somehow. I was watching this hippie like friend of mine do this double on this old run down dt, and he kept stopping to do homework for school, he had his book open next to the jump. It was bloody odd. Later on I was walking with him and another friend of mine who I gel pretty well with, we were walking down this straight open dirt road away from the bike area, and in the sky I could see the different dimensions, for real, like the way they are currently speculating about how the universe really is. I could see it, the dimensions being illuminated through the sunrays like these different see through 'mirrors'. Somehow I had a complete understanding of it and I was pointing to it and explaining to my friends just how everything works. The vision of those is still crystal clear in my mind.

I woke up thinking it was for real. Left me quite excited for a few days after.
