I want to do some mods on the ProbeGt but the fucking parts are so expensive. I want that Borla exaust system but it's around 600 benz, I want a CAI but the "HotShot" thats recommended is like 2 fiddy. Also a HO ignition system is like 300 benz, im like wtf? And those are just a few of the mods I want.I better buy a beater and drive that to work instead, before I tear this thing up.

Beamers, Benzes, most of the German cars are unreliable stupid status symbols. Yeaaaa, look at me broken down on the side of the road in my "beamer". A Lexus or Acura is preferable - rock solid and just as nice.
That being said: I drive a 2003 Mitsubishi Gallant bought in 2004 (the only problem has been replacing the breaks more frequently than is normal) and my wife drives a 2003 Honda Accord bought new (the only issue was a tranny recall - they put in a new one even though it was fine).

seriously. have you ever owned a german car? while VWs are less reliable than say hondas, with proper care, they'll last just as long, if not longer. my dad has a '97 BMW, he's had it for probably 5+ years, and has had very little problem with it. my mom drives an acura (her second) and it has it's share of problems. yes, it's reliable, true, there aren't many problems, but they are there. just like any car. i'd take a german car over a jap any/every day.

I drive a van to fit all my kids, and dog.
The drivers side door won't completely close, so when i drive it dings constantly. There is something wrong with the transmission so I'm usually chugging up and down the streets. The breaks failed on me a couple of months ago....I luckily made it to an empty parkinglot. It only has a tape deck. The steering is fdged up, so whenever i turn it makes a low whining sound that everyone can hear, making people turn their heads and look at me in my shit mobile. The spedometer doesn't work, but when it does on occasion the dinging stops. The windshield is cracked from when my wiper flew off in the winter, i tried to put in back on, and it snapped back and cracked the windshield....also when i drive on the highway because the door won't shut, I on occasion will look to my side at a passing vehicle and they will be flagging me to let me know my door is open hanging on bythe little door clippy thing....I just nod like..."I know, I know." I need some new wheels ![]() |

japanese luxos = luxury, smooth ride & excellent straight line performance german luxos = luxury, responsive/sporty ride, excellent straight line performance & will leave the japanese in the dust on a twisty, curvy road. different strokes for different folks. my dad loves his lexus GS. i prefer a sportier play. either way, i choose my cars based on MY needs & desires (performance, size, number of doors, color, etc.)- other people's opinions play a very small roll in the decision. BUT, i won't lie - it is nice rolling up to a valet in the cars i drive NOW versus the ones i used to drive. ![]() peace & pot btw, "beamer" is a bmw motorcycle & "bimmer" is a bmw car - i didn't invent it, it's just what owners of bmw's call them - and no, i am not (currently) a bmw owner! LOL. |

I posted in this thread awhile ago. I've got a new car now, an '89 Volvo 740 wagon. Built like a fucking tank, not a single mechanical problem. The sunroof's loose though, which is fucking annoying, it rattles so loud when you're going fast that you can't even keep up a conversation. I'll probably get it fixed in a month or so.
