the shark tank hasnt been so nice to the sharks when they're losing tho.. their fans tend to bust out the boos early and often
if the flames can score first and hold the lead for a while i think the fans will turn

I won't pretend to be a huge hockey fan; I only went to my first game this past March, and that was on free tickets we scored off someone. It is nice, though, to see the Caps come back from down 3-1 in the series to tie it up and try and win tonight. Both the national and the local media had pretty much written them off as a "flashy team" and doomed in the playoffs. That last part may still be true, but at least they showed some grit and proved they could beat Philly at their own game.
It doesn't hurt that my best friend is a huge Flyers fan. ![]()

The games tonight should be excellent. Why is there always a double-header of game 7s on TV when I should be studying for exams?
Oh, and go Caps (just because the Flyers suck, Ovechkin, and those new(old) uniforms) & Flames! |

Eastern Conference
New York Rangers vs Montreal Canadiens: I didn't see much of the Rangers/Devils series, but I think the Rangers are probably a little more under the radar then they should be. The Habs had a tough time taking out Boston, and the Rangers are a stronger team in almost every facet. Still, Montreal's home ice advantage is huge, and they are on a major role. Les Habitants in 7 Philadelphia Flyers vs Pittsburgh Penguins: the Senators didn't put up much a fight, but Pittsburgh looked to be top of their game, with all four lines rolling. Although they haven't played a game in a pretty long time, so who knows if they will show up in game 1. I don't really give the Flyers much of a chance, and it would be a pretty massive upset if they could pull it off. Penguins in 6 Western Conference Detroit Red Wings vs. Colorado Avalanche: I was surprised to see the Avalanche take out the Wild, and they are looking pretty sharp. Sakic and Forsberg are playing like its 2001, with Statsny and Wolski providing support. The Wings had shaky goaltending in round one, and looked a little rusty against Nashville. Avalanche in 7 Dallas Stars vs. San Jose Sharks: While it took the Sharks 7 games to knock off the Flames, I still like their chances against the Stars. Relying mainly on the power-play, Dallas beat the Ducks who were not prepared for the onslaught of penalties in this years playoffs. Sharks in 6 Last edited by Puffman; 04-23-2008 at 06:51 PM. |

I like the eastern conference picks, but I'm thinking Detroit wins their series.
How good would Montreal-Pittsburgh be?

I think playing in a much tougher division all year (playing 8 games each against Minnesota, Calgary, and Vancouver) makes the Northwest Division teams highly under-rated. Conversely, the Central Division is pretty weak (Chicago, St. Louis, Columbus), giving a lot of easy points to the Wings in the regular season, and possibly leaving them not quite as prepared. While Theodore doesn't exactly have a great reputation, the Wings are going with Osgoode in this series, who is also a pretty big question mark. It could easily go either way but I think the Avs will come through.
Any yea, Habs vs Pens in conference final would be sick. I just realized I fucked up the series in the East, putting NYR and Philly backwards. So ignore the analysis, but I'll keep the picks. Last edited by Puffman; 04-24-2008 at 06:19 PM. |

I'd really love to see the avs get to the cup, but i'm a bit nervous about them playing the wings... especially since the wings swept the avs in the first series they played earlier in the year, and that whole 12-2 lose was pretty bad to. The avs are in a lot better shape now then what they were then though.
