Car question

So theres this guying trying to tell me in order to replace a fuel pump he needs to buy a relay that bypasses the alarm?

Car in question: '99 Eclipse GST(urbo). m/t, atermarket alarm.. but this cannot be true.
Even if the alarm was wired all "ghetto" why the fuck would the fuel pump be there.

Could it possibly have been wired in so no one jacks your turbo?

...Despite the insane amount of work that would take..

naww.. I mean the fuel pump and the turbo are across the car from each other.. and they really dont rely on either one to work... one works with oil the other fuel.

Well is it a shiny fuel pump?

Maybe the vehicle is comprehensively being tracked by someone who knows it would be a bitch to take out the tracking device if it were routed through the fuel pump??

Is it possible that he may be referring to an 'ignition kill' feature that will be triggered by the alarm via the ECM? My Saturn, yea really, has an ignition kill feature from the factory that can only be reset by entering a code through the factory stereo if it is started without the key. I'm wondering if you A/M alarm may be wired into the fuel pump in a similar way maybe?

Next suggestion would be to go to an authorized installer of said alarm to confirm.

could just be some sort of imobilizing system that shuts off the fuel pump

that seems to make the most sense..
get another mechanic to look at it

Yea that sounds more like it mafoo.
I don't know anymore, if I was home I'd most likely try to do the work myself.
But I'm still in wonderful Korea. Leave in 7 days and I won't even get to see this car for another year or so.
Fuck it I should just sell it.
