three weeks ago, i bought a bowflex because i saw the infomercial and i got sucked into the hype. anyways, i got all the shit laying across my living room floor, and i dont have a couple of the tools needed to put this thing together. i have a freeweight bemch set with omly 200lbs of wights, so i figured id get this thing, then id be able to do more exercizes, secifically pulldowns (i tried setting up a pullup bar in my place but the building is so old that the doorways and windows are odd measurments compared to todays houses). so right now, until i get the two tools i need, this thing is a white elephant.
does anyone here have any experience with a bowflex? doestn have to be the xtreme se, but any bowflex at all. i just want to know if i got swindled or not. also, even if you dont have one, watchu think of the bowflexs? yey or ney?

that blows man. all i have now is a bench and pullup bar and it works awesome for me. i would never spend that much just for an exersize machine but to each their own.
im just more of a simple pullup, pushup, bench, situp, and run kinda guy. Last edited by jag8; 06-05-2008 at 11:43 AM. |

Myself, I'm not in shape at the moment, but I have friends who body build and lift often, they say that Bowflexes are better than nothing, BUT that they're extremely limited with what they can do and they're too damn expensive.
Don't they have a money back guarantee? I'd utilize it if I were you and either join a gym or take a weightlifting class at your local community college. |

I purchased a Soloflex over 15 years ago and I still have it and it works great. When I use it on a regular, consistent basis, I get very good results. It's simple and uses standard tools to set up. I don't know if they sell them new anymore but Soloflex still sells the weight bands and other accessories for the original machines. I see used ones for sale in the newspaper every so often and for very little money... sometimes just a pick it up and haul it away.
Because the Soloflex is very compact, however, it might not be the best choice for a very large or tall (over 6 foot) person. |

hate to be the one to say this to you, but yeah, you got fucked. those bowflexes are retarded and for dumb BB noobs who get suckered in by infomercials. You can get just a good of working with free weights and a bench. you can do everything with just that... check out bodybuilding.com's exercises section, theres a million different things you can do with a barbell for either composite or isolation weight lifting

yeah, i figured as much. i have a bench with an olympic sized straight bar, a curling bar, and two barbells, but its a bitch to keep switching the weights back and forth during a workout because i only have 200lps of weights. takes more time to do that than it does to acutally workout (feels like it, anyways). btu, im going to pick up the tolls needed to put this thing together, and im gonna try to make the best of it.

^ i got a couple more power rods to = 310lps of resistance. after s+h it cost about $1500 rouded off.
/wallet rape bowflex link im seriously questioning my intellect for buying this. of all the "all-in-one" machines for sale, i picked the one that wallet rapes you the most.

How much did the bowflex cost you? I hear they're $2500 or something ridiculous like that.
You could get plenty achieved with 200lbs worth of weights anyway, I dunno what you're complaining about. |

^ basically, like typical americans, i took a tried and true method of something good (weight lifting), complicated it, and spent wayyyyy to much money on crap i didnt need.
srsly, i bought it because i figured it would be like a gym in one. and it cost $1500.

Yeah you really f'd yourself in the a by paying that much. Just go get a gym membership, and work with a personal trainer if you're not sure of what to do. Or register at bodybuilding.com and ask them.
I'd get rid of that piece of crap while it's still worth something, if I were you. |
