Otherwise you'd be much more comfortable in a car, smoking a joint, listening to the radio. Sitting in traffic.

Seriously.

I broke my collar bone drunkenly running across the top of a chain link fence tonight, so.... no bike until that's healed. Boo.

Edit: Blessing in disguise. Now I'm really able to search for the right one. I've pretty much decided on a SV650 naked, with a regular stance (not the SV650S). Probably an 06 or an 07. I rode a GS500 and a ninja 250 yesterday. Neither felt like really too much bike for me. In fact, I was kind of disappointed in the amount of power compared to a dirt bike. I thought it would feel much more significantly faster.

I know, I know, don't get cocky.

righhht... BTW, you're wrong with your little rant anyway. you make it sound like it's ok to ride sloppy on a bigger bike because the power will help cover your mistakes. That's not the way to go about it.... learn to ride a tiny bike fast, and use that skill on the big bike, and you won't have as many mistakes to try to cover up. Sure there are small differences, but it's not like you have to learn to ride over again. And if you have to 'man-handle' any street bike...

It's not a friggin dirtbike in the woods. There are plenty of riders/racers that are very smooth and fluid on open class bikes and go plenty fast. If the style you prefer is to throw the bike around then whatever, but it's not a hard and fast rule.

The best part of your little rant is how you went on and on, as if this guy would have ANY clue wtf you were talking about. He's asking about his first bike you go on some gung-ho spiel about the difference between blah blah blah. I know you're not that dumb, so why bother doing it when all it will do is confuse this guy whos asking about his first bike? oh wait, I know the answer... cause you can never get enough of hearing yourself talk....
