Best firearm for one MAN?

I'm going to go to a gun shop sometime very soon, I can feel it. I've always wanted to buy a hand gun and lately I've been doing a lot of research. The biggest concern to me right now is, how BIG should my piece be?

My first choihce is a Smith & Wesson .38 special. Compact, pretty, easy to care for, excellent reliability. Probably the perfect personal protection gun. Popularlarly known as "an old police gun". A new one would cost around $700. and a used one would cost, who knows how much? Probably a good deal.

A perfect first:


My second choice would be the going-all-out Desert Eagle Magnum for well over $1200 probably. Made for spraying peoples guts all over the pavement, it's basically a hand-cannon. It would also be the funnest to play with at the shooting range.

desert eagle had too high of a caliber. Too much kick, too much mess, and generally the bullet will pierce an attacker not stopping them unless its a dome or heart shot. .38 is a good choice, however that .38 is too much look into Rugers I believe they are only 500. Glock 40's look into them(semi auto, not too much kick for the power,etc), very standard a bit cheaper then 700.

If your looking into a shotgun for home defense check out Mossberg 500 cruiser 6 shot. Very inexpensive, pretty small. superb for home defense.

glocks are a bit too standard IMO. they're standard police issue aren't they now? that officially makes them unimpressive. how about a comprimise between the .38 and the desert eagle and settling for a .44 magnum?

Haha you ever shoot or hear a .44 magnum? Once again the round will put a whole through someone but if their packing they can let out shots. Plus those things are big. If you have 1,200 dolalrs to drop on a desert eagle, then you have too much money and you probably are living somewere where a gun isn't a huge necessity.

Glock's are standard, why do you need an impressive gun? Your not using your gun as a porno or a power trip this is self defense. If we're not talking about self defense then join a gun forum. The more haggard the more fear sure, however if your pulling out a gun you had better shoot it, unless your definetly in the wrong then you don't pull it.

A anythign .40 or lower caliber will hopefully knock an attacker on their ass with rounds in their chest/guts/legs/shoulder.

the .45 bullet is fat enough to stop the most crazed crackhead
you can get a ported barrel that reduce the kick and stops it from flying up

Yeah wearing boxing gloves and handling a piece? Wearing boxing gloves is pretty different then aiming and pulling a finger then running. Handling a gun isn't hard, handling a gun properly is. And pistol whips? That's so jams bond or gang related shit. No one ever pistol whips someone, unless the victim can't move already it's a seal the deal thing.

Just an FYI a pistol whip when done correctly is fatal. So there's no purpose if you have rounds left. Holding a gun is very different from using one.

Veda that there is a bueatiful piece of machinery, I've never seen those before. I've seen other springfields however. Reminds me of one of those 40 cal brownings.
