wow... I just got done ripping you apart in your little mini-bike thread and you surprise me with this... How can you be smart and non-squiddish in this regard, but your sporting a fucking mini-bike on the street??? are you half-dumb or something??? lol... you sir are a fucking enigma to me.

PS, spanky is right. people who run from cops are retarded.... risk losing my life or killing an innocent person, or going to jail over a ticket?? shit like this is what gives sport bikes a bad name in the first place, and why our insurance is so high, and the reason why cars give us no respect and do stupid shit like try to purposely run is over.... the reason why cops hate and harass us and give us retarded tickets for shit like not using a blinker (got one the other day ). there's a million other ill side effects but only a dumbass squid would need them listed... not really a shocker that that's how no1 ended his riding career...

I've run from the man only two times in my life on a bike, both times on the freeway and both times it was over in ten seconds. CHP lit me up and I made a hard right to the closest exit and was gone.

I will tell you this, if you do run and it takes longer than 30 seconds to lose the cops, you will be going to jail.

And for the record, it was my lack of showing up for those tickets I was written when I pulled over to the side like a good citizen that I got caught for.

Methamphetamine...

Don't do it.

I`d agree with this. You have to take your choices depending on the situation. Getting into a chase is stupid.
That doesn`t mean you have to stick around and take the flack.

you can outrun the patrol car but you cant outrun the radio. i would never run from the cops, 1000cc bike or ferrari for that matter. guaranteed stop at gunpoint, night in county, points on license (if its not suspended), court fees, etc.. not to mention possibly killing someone or yourself.

I would be riding today (especially considering gas prices), but my dad told me a horror story.

He said a friend of his was working at Radio Shack when he looked out the window and saw a station wagon pulling into the parking lot of the store. The station wagon, owned by a stupid lady, pulled across the lanes into the parking lot. A motorcycle carrying a woman and a man plowed into the station wagon. Both were tossed over the car in an arc. My dad's friend ran out of the store to see if they needed help. When he got to the man and woman who had been riding the motorcycle, they were both twitching in rigor moris.

And it wasn't even their fault.
I have been rear ended 2 times last year by assholes on cell phones while driving. I only had very minor injuries because I had a car around me. If I had been riding a motorcycle, I would be dead.

I want to ride a motorcycle, but there are too many morons on the road.

I`m not advocating riding like a dick but this isn`t true. I was a motorcycle courier for 7 years and I never picked up a single point on my licence during this time riding thousands of miles every week. I`m still alive and I didn`t notice killing anyone else either.

im speeking to the douche bag whos first bike is a cbr blackbird or 1000cc bike and thinks they own the road. obviously I consider a motorcycle courier for 7 years a good rider but lets be honest, thats like 10% of the population, if that... that post was dedicated to running from police. what wasnt true? points on license, did you ever get a ticket? if you did thats points... maybe you just dont know the people i do. justifying going faster then the speed limit, dicey maneuvers. you dont come across as a crazy rider so whats your point?

Once got a ticket for not having my chin strap done up (was only going 200 metres before stopping on the same street) that was a £20 fine no points on licence. I exceed the speed limit whenever conditions were safe to do so which is not uncommon. My point is I want to decide when it`s safe to do shit not let some copper or town planner decide for me.

I`ve run from the cops plenty of times like this except mostly in traffic I just never got caught. Dicey manoeuvres are by definition a bit foolish.

well granted ive never lived over there but i know some people that do and what ive heard (could be wrong) but apparently police out there dont risk the stupid shit that american police do (bailing out of a chase for example) to catch you because the po over here becomes personal very quick and they WILL hunt you down. im really dont have much knowledge of UK police though so i could be coming at it all wrong...

i guess my point is a dicey maneuver would be running from police.. considering its not like a drag race, im sure you made highspeed turns and maybe were on residential roads... but you got to think also about the police behind you, them going faster and them possibly becoming a danger, which is more likely. oh well keep on ridin man, thats what its all about.

Depends on the situation. We have a lot more junctions than you do (with the US being relatively underpopulated) so if you disappear it`s hard for them to set up a roadblock. Most of my riding has been in London which is a veritable maze.
If you piss the cops off they will do their best to get you but you have to take an educated decision on the best course of action. They may try to knock you off your bike but like I said above if you actually get into a chase that`s pretty stupid. Check the quote I took from No1. The whole point is to disappear before it gets messy.

i agree with this 100%. who wouldnt try to get away.. i totally know what you mean and i think you know what i mean. im talking about the person on the completely other end of the spectrum in this matter.

anyways now i am totally enthralled with getting my license and probably starting out on a 250R ninja and move up to a honda cbr600 to ride for a bit before i get into the big boy bikes. i almost bought a 250R last summer for $3,000 with not many miles on it at all. can anyone tell me what exactly you need to buy a bike. im sure you need to be licensed right? how about insurance? do you need to have the bike insured to buy it?

I could easy run from cops if I really wanted to. I never would though because the streets are the most unsafe place for a motorcycle as it is..

1) Other cars on the road.

2) GRAVEL!!!!

3) It's not worth laying your bike down after making a dumb decision, and on top of your injuries and tickets.

It's just not a good idea. I'm scared as it is riding with one ear phone.

In the UK you need a CBT (compulsory bike test) to ride a 125 and a proper bike licence to ride anything bigger. You can get a licence which only allows you to ride up to a certain power output with option to upgrade later (not sure what the point of this is) or can take a direct access test which allows you to ride any bike. You need to be insured to ride anything at any time. My insurance covers me on any bike which is insured as long as I have the owners permission to ride it. This is handy as I am legal to ride my friends` bikes.

Yeah, I agree that running from the cops is a bad idea, unless you got nothing to lose. My dad was an old school biker, and I learned from him, you could have the fastest bike in the world, but you're never as fast as their radios. The best thing is to never pull over in a desolate area, make sure there are other people around, know you're rights as far as being searched and questioned, especially if you're high or carrying a concealed weapon (I have a permit). But running, 9 times out of 10, you're gonna get caught or wreck, whichever comes first.
