Nascar driver MAYFIELD is on meth
Sources say Mayfield tested positive for meth ; NASCAR
Tania Ganguli Tania Ganguli; The Orlando SentinelHerald (Rock Hill, SC) Sources say Mayfield tested positive for meth ; NASCAR Byline: Tania Ganguli Tania Ganguli; The Orlando Sentinel Section: C Type: News Jeremy Mayfield tested positive for methamphetamines during a random drug test at Richmond International Raceway on May 1, ESPN.com reported Tuesday afternoon. The story cited two independent sources providing the information Monday night. Because of a gag order issued by a North Carolina judge on May 29, neither party is allowed to discuss the test results. NASCAR suspended Mayfield from driving the No. 41 Mayfield Motorsports Toyota on May 9 for a violation of its substance-abuse policy. Mayfield's attorneys said in May that NASCAR's test results indicated he tested positive for amphetamines. NASCAR has declined to reveal the drug, citing privacy issues, but NASCAR CEO Brian France termed the positive test result a "serious" violation caused by a performance enhancing or recreational drug. Court documents indicate that Mayfield said he took two doses of Claritin-D, an over-the-counter allergy medication, as well as Adderall, a prescription amphetamine used to treat ADHD. Mayfield's defense since his suspension has been that a mixture of the prescription and over-the-counter medication caused the false positive test. Dr. David Black, CEO of AEGIS Corp., which administers NASCAR's policy, repeatedly has said that explanation is impossible. Mayfield's lawsuit also claims the test itself might have been faulty and that he had the right to have a second sample tested by a separate testing facility. After the first sample taken at Richmond returned positive on May 7, NASCAR says Mayfield asked that a second sample, taken on the same day, be tested. In his court filing, Mayfield says he did not ask that the second sample be tested. Mayfield filed for a temporary restraining order in North Carolina Superior Court on May 29 in hopes of getting his suspension lifted until the completion of the case. Among the charges were defamation and breach of contract. Judge Forrest Bridges declined to rule that Friday, saying granting the restraining order would not allow Mayfield to get back in the car for that weekend's race. A hearing was set for June 3. On June 2, however, NASCAR moved the case to federal court, which delayed the hearing by two weeks. NASCAR then filed a countersuit in which it claimed Mayfield previously had raced under the influence of an illegal drug. The name of the drug was redacted out of public copies of the filing. this was covered up by the news media especially ESPN
they didn't want the news to get out to all the nascar parents and children. so far he has lost not one sponsor
"NASCAR has declined to reveal the drug, citing privacy issues, but NASCAR CEO Brian France termed the positive test result a "serious" violation caused by a performance enhancing or recreational drug." I wonder what they would have done if he was photgraphed with a bong! aren't parents concerned with meth?

It comes as a surprise that a driver for the biggest commercial product consumed by trailer park methheads is on meth?

I'm not shocked, its so fucking boring, even the drivers have to get all cranked up to hack it.
I have a suggestion for making NASCAR both more fan and TV friendly... Half the field drives in the other direction.

In the driving manual for the state where I grew up it actually said that for a short time stimulants actually help you drive better. Followed by a sentence about how the comedown is why there are wrecks from it.

I guess no one is taking advantage of this sad situation.
So I'll take it upon my self. Top Ten Signs Mayfield was on Drugs 10. Had to race with his mother-in-law's station wagon after he sold his stock car. 9. His stock car's rear view monitor plays only porno during the race. 8. He started hanging out with Whitney and Bobbi. 7. Keep thinking the pace car is an undercover cop. 6. His home and his pit trailer are one and the same. 5. His pit crew are all biker mechanics. 4. Let's his son steer on his lap during the race. 3. Keep asking the other drivers when the concert starts. 2. His helmet and race suit weights more than him. and the number one sign Mayfield was on drugs... 1. All those other times they caught him doing drugs.

I know for a fact I was listening to ESPN radio when it came up 'breaking news; nascar driver tested positive for meth.' If the story was overlooked at all, its because its a nascar driver and no one gives a shit about nascar.

Dear Newsweek, micheal phelps better than speed junkie driver
Compare the recent treatment of an Olympic Champion Swimmer and gold medal winner Micheal Phelps to a NASCAR Race car driver!
Phelps got his reputation ruined in the media even after he apologized to parents for exposing their youngsters to a photo of a grown man smoking a bong. It was the news flash of the day! For weeks and weeks. He even had his contract from Kellogg's taken away over it. now take for a minute a look at the wholesome sport of Nascar. When Jeremy Mayfield was suspended at first we we only told that he tested postive for drugs. it wasn't till almost a month later that the real news came out, Mayfield wasn't smoking a bong after work. Oh no far from it he was doing a dangerous drug that should not be considered safe at any speed He was doing Meth! Mayfield has been suspended from racing but has yet to apologize as Micheal Phelps did immediately after he was the front page story all over the USA instead he is claiming that he tested positive for meth due to his prescription drug use and an over the counter drug called sudafed. Yeah sure! And sports news talk radio won't take any phone calls on air to discuss this case. Darral Good

yes they were trying to keep this story quiet to protect all the beer drinking sons and daughters of the crazy drunken nascar fans!
they could have anounced what drug he was on on the day they tested his piss or blood no need to wait three weeks! but this is nothing new the people in journalism nowadays won't do any story that would make their adevertisers look bad. look at how they covered up the news that tylenol hid the facts that their drugs was dangerous to people who drink more than once a day. they were willing to kill more livers to protect their liveliehood! that's why they won't take any calls on this news sports story they wouldn't want to have this story to run right before the afternoon advertisement for wine or beer or even booze not to mention the laatest pharmacutical drug that they are selling! NO RESPECT FOR POT SMOKERS! they will protect you if you are on meth way more! go to CBS SPORTS and do a search for METH? and then do a search for marijuana.
