'09-'10 nba
so i saw the spurs season opener last night and while the hornets are nothing spectacular (sitting chris paul gave the spurs a 20-0 run) i think they proved we put a solid crew with a lot of potential together in the off season. once pop gets his rotations down i can't see any club standing a chance. the spurs have finally got the energy to match the deliberateness that shut teams down all its own so well in the past.
the biggest flaw i've seen in the spurs over the years has been missing and giving up too many offensive boards. hopefully that will change with rookie dejuan blair's uncanny ability to get his hands on the ball. look out lakers (cuz there's no one else to worry about in the west, ha) any thoughts on what should prove to be an exciting season?

The Spurs will dominate this year! I have a feeling that Dejuan is just what we needed. The Spurs have always been a strong team but have needed a bit of fine tuning.

As much as I am for any Tx team, Mavs, Spurs or the Rockets taking it, I don't see any reason why the Lakers wont be on top once again. With Ron Artest in the mix, and Bynum healthy, I dont see anyone able to stop them.
On a side note, I think im going to order NBA league pass this year. I can pretty much watch any NBA game and enjoy it. |

i know what you mean man it's a great game. i'm stoked they've got a new crew of refs too
as for the lakers. . . we'll see we'll see. i'm just glad you didn't mention the cavs. i feel bad for eastern fans they've really got nothing this year but a bunch of hype

lol @ the spurs 'dominating' and 'no club standing a chance'
i mean they're gonna be real good this year, but open your homer eyes up. the west is just too stacked to make any statement like that. also, blair looks to be good (rebounding against a tiny and unphysical hornets team btw....) but the real steal of the draft was Ty Lawson. IMO.

and they dont have a new crew of refs...
they got their shit figured out. regular refs are back (which will only help the spurs.......). http://deadspin.com/5392067/excerpts...yline=true&s=x ^excerpts from disgraced nba ref tim donaghys book that was just pulled off the shelves because of 'liability issue's'. makes me think its all too true for the nba and david stern to handle.

cle-tor game lastnight was wicked.. andrea right in bron-bron's eye!! can't wait for some upcoming games too.. going to the suns game on nov29th, it's always dope when steve nash comes to town. going to both orlando games-- i've gone to almost every vince game since he got traded. best atmosphere. toronto games/fans in general are some of the best in the league without a doubt. hopefully my guys can be more consistent this year and play better D

besides, whoever was before or after minnesota before they picked lawson probably figured they didn't have to be aggressive to get lawson because only a crazy fuck would pick 3 straight PGs and 4 in the draft..

yeah, read those excerpts.
makes you pissed off. well it did me. but nothing out of the realm of possibility. also, jumping back to the spurs. blair will be okay for them but they really got better by adding rich-jeff

turkish MJ was doing his thing. knocked down some big shots, and helped bring the ball up a lot. that's one of the biggest assets he brings to us i think-- his ability to bring the ball up and find people or his own shot.. takes a lot of pressure of jose and jack and puts tons of pressure on opposing defenses.

i dunno.
lawsons been great so far (preseason and 1 game) i know it was one game against the Jizz, but still 17pts 6 assists 0 turnovers in 25 mins. he took over the game and looks to be a special player. especially because he's a good compliment to chauncey billups and should benefit from his leadership.

i didn't even watch any spurs games last year bc they sucked so bad, so maybe i'm taking my excitement a bit overboard. but they were ridiculous last night. . . 6 men putting up double figures i mean fuck. the word "deep" has been thrown around a lot for the spurs over the past couple seasons, but really it was just tim, tony and manu + some old "veterans." this year it's for real. yeah no more bruce bowen so our defense might suffer a little bit (wonder who they'll put on kobe?), but at least all those peeps calling the spurs dirty will have to stfu. edit- word up np, richard jefferson is a beast

also, also, i know noone's giving the nuggets any credit this year (even though they did make the west finals last year and even in kobe's words were the toughest team they played all post-season...).
people arent even picking them to win their own division (yes the blazers look to be good, again). but watch out for melo this year. he's slimmer and more focused and is trying to become a legit mvp candidate. anyone see his steal and throw down over millsap (i think) last night? fucking badass and yeah i think they just figured out the ref thing cuz last night in the 2nd ESPN game (nugs-jizz) they were saying how nice it was to have the regular refs back. (which i dont really agree with)
