Good Fiction - Fantasy, mythology, prehistory...
I'm wondering what sorts of good books you guys have read that are in these sort of fictional genres?
I havn't been reading much fiction because of school readings for a couple years now and I think my imaginative faculties could use some colour... If you know what I mean. Not too thick, not too casual. Books that explore fictional or historical cultures and politics, or competing races /species and that sort of thing are sometimes interesting. Any discussion is good, I just want to get some fictional thought juices flowing. |

dune is good, make sure to check out the prequels too theres three books that deal with the events leading up to the original dune, also three books about the butlerian jihad set thousands of years before the events of dune, very interesting, dont listen to what the hardcore fans say. think star wars, but with more political and religious intrigue, violence, drugs and rape. come to think of it, the dune series is one of many works that inspired george lucas to make star wars
also check out some of ben bova's work, of what ive read its all about the colonisation of the moon and the other planets in the solar system. also there is much political and religious intrigue, violence, drugs and rape. evolution by baxter is good too, check it out.

The Wheel of Time is an excellent series, at least for the first 7 books or so.
I started Dune for the 1st time last summer. It's very good and I'm about to finish the 3rd book but think I'll stop there.
