Once, proud you were.
Strong.
Compassionate.
Understanding.
You have succumbed to the lowest form of humanity.
Courageous in your world of lies,
your faith being deceit.

Like partners, we have intertwined with you,
creating spontaneous combustion within our conscience.
We have worn ourselves out by running from the truth.
And now the mirrored image haunts us.

We are without speech, for our words are offensive.
We are without sight, for it is clouded.
We are without heart, for it has hardened.
We are without sound, for it has muffled.
We are without soul, for it has drowned.

i like it though because of the emotions it stirs in me.

If Love is a Universal emotion, then the pain it often causes (some might say inevitably causes) is equally Universal. Yet, that only begs the more important question: Why do sad poems and stories of emotional pain bring each of us a strange kind of pleasure?

I'm sure the psychologists have an answer to that question. And I'm just as sure it's a different answer than a poet would give. (Yep)

Maybe, in the end, the answer really isn't so complex.

A burden born by one can often grow too heavy to bear. Maybe, in the end, each of us knows that sharing our pain is the only way we can live with the pain.

And that's really what each of these sad poems are about........~

Every evening on the news we hear of death and suffering.

We can see this in our backyards and alley ways.
Children die, beaten by their parents. Life is hard but harder for many. Drive by's and rape, theft and murder.
When living in this kind of darkness, where does the light come from?
Where do we find the strength?

Dreams have wings, but they are often clipped by the ravages of reality.


Somewhere in the night a child cries,
A woman weeps and someone dies.
Somewhere in the night, humanity hides.

Somewhere in the night , a soul screams,
As people fade and die, lost in dreams.
Somewhere in the night, reality lives.

Somewhere in the night loneliness dwells,
As people die, no sounding bells............
Somewhere in the night, she dies alone..............

Where is the light?

As you lay down the highway of tears............... ......

My feet walk upon the bones of your ancestors, As the stars fall out of the sky, And the moon refuses to shine...........

As your bodies are slain and nothing is done, As your bodies are stolen and nothing is done, The tears of the highway continue to run........

As spring begins we remember the war on women.
We remember the First Nations who were murdered and forgotten.
As the red blood runs, As the abused earth bleeds, For her Mothers who were taken killed and forgotten........... .............

Laying in the sweet grass and

Covered by the red earth

Unburdened now they lay down

and we send prayers weeping

As we remember the strong and the brave

Who were taken from us

As we live on this sacred land

and feed upon the love of truth.

Reaching out in despair?

Her heart is sad and lonely
Craving for that love
The great spirit had created

Violated of her womanhood
she is only taught to fight!
The burden she is carrying
Invisible to the light.

Willing someone to love her,
To make her who again.

The Highway of Tears............... .........

Has so many fears,

Another victim has been claimed,

And now, she has been sadly named.

She went missing from home,

Then, was found, cold and alone.

Found beside the Highway of Tears,

It was her family's worst fears.

Now she is gone, this young soul,

Her family will ne'er again be whole.

Who could have done this terrible deed?

The answer is a must, and a need.

A monster prowls the Highway of Tears!

Too many young girls, too many fears.

He gives them a smile, or a warm embrace,

but, then he takes them to this terrible place.

Has so many fears.

Another victim has been sadly claimed-

Let's hope YOU will never be a victim named.

Please, please, to all the young women,

be careful and don't travel by yourself.

Gone but never forgotten

Faces that we will remember forever

For the lives they had were not who they were

Friend, sister, brother, they were and will always be

Glitters that shine bright in the night sky

Waiting...

For the comfort of our prayers

The streets were only but a home for their lost souls

Wandering aimlessly

Searching for something or someone to believe in

They were warriors

Men and women standing in the face of a nation risen against them

Their stories will not be untold

Stamped out in the ashes of their deaths

This is not goodbye

The falling of leaves in autumn,
are the whispers and sighs of those
who stood around you.

Healing the wounds they suffered,
when against the gray dark wilderness,
they found you!

With rosey wreaths, propted
in the sandy dirt.
It made us aware of a season dying.

That night, sounded the breaking
of hearts inside us.
Now, when this season comes,
it hides us in all the silence.

A world could give, to heal the hurt.
But, a hurt that never went away,
yet, stays in small rooms of our hearts,
and somehow, still finds you...

Both dainty and distressing,

As tears escape twin rivers of the soul.

Convenient time I gave,

Infrequently expressing,

The sentiment between routine and role.

The chance was temporary,

To cross back and stroll through tender years.

Eulogies and regret,

As mysterious as Jade,

I failed to say just what I really meant.

Appeal for help to find girls

The tragic story of missing and murdered aboriginal women across Canada added yet another chapter yesterday when it was revealed two teenagers from the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg reserve have disappeared without a trace.

Maisy Odjick, 16, and Shannon Alexander, 17, have been missing since Sept. 5 They left their homes in Maniwaki, about 140 km northwest of Ottawa, without their identification, make-up, cellphones, and purses and have not been heard from since.

Band Chief Gilbert Whiteduck says nothing about the situation makes sense.
