Looking for you everywhere,
yet I already have you,
under spider-webs, and on rotten trees,
in low plains and near shallow streams,
Oh I thought you were hiding from me.

The opposite has occurred,
I stashed you away for no one to see,
By the concrete stair-well,
where the stranger is talking,
sleek-hats and sunglasses,
hiding behind the same false entities.

Go figure he wore black,
that is a big part of me...
snapping back with a whip-lash,
did I give this cashier the cash?

But it's okay,
because your in my closet.
I'll try to remember to forget that.

Nice! Out of curiosity do you make these poems off the top of your head, or do you write them down first to see how they go along?

I used to be too analytical of how I wrote. Concentrating on rhyme and syllables to the point of OCD.

But for the past year or so I've written automaticly. What I have literally done for the past 10 or more poems I've posted on here is opened a yahooka window, typed as fast as my fingers can keep up with my thoughts, went over for punctuation/spelling errors, named it and posted it.

A lot of times I'll go on my front porch for a cigarette and just sing in my head(day-time), out-loud(night-time) and whatever I can remember I write down. Though those poems I like to leave to the universe, as they are gifts, and I'd rather not try to denaturalize(is that a word?) them.

I believe there is a state or trance you can go to, where another entity or spirit or however you want to describe it, comes up to you and just channels itself through you. Sometimes I can get really into it, sometimes I only catch shadows or the after-math of it. I believe creativity is not with-in a person, but rather the person is the translator for it.

So your saying you go into this "trance" like situation and confirm it by saying something else with a high power speaks through by you? I respect your thoughts but wow I never really thought of it that way. Sounds to far fetch if you ask me. Don't get me wrong im not trying to put you down but im more just of a poem type of guy that whatever comes to my heart or head I just jot it down. But I think thats pretty awesome if what you said was true.

Well I don't think it's thaaat far-fetched. I'm not saying that I write the word of some god or Demiurge or something haha.

What I mean is, maybe what "randomly" comes to your mind, isn't random. Maybe it's some kind of channel of energy projected out to you. I romance the idea of muses, and unseen energies.

But I know what you mean, I probably do sound crazy . I clinically am crazy so don't worry your not alone in your understandings of me lol.

Thanks for reading and supporting and commenting and conversating irregardless on our differing stances of where creativity comes from.

its your muse, wether it be god, energy, or any name you want to put on it.

im gonna have to try your method for writing cuz my nit picky-ness has pretty much caused my writings to grind to a hault.

Give it a shot, if your a public writer, I'm sure we'd all love to hear it .

My problem was that I was forcing "inspiration"(wh ich sometimes I still do I'll admit), the best analogy I have for it is:

It's like trying to catch a fly with 2 fingers, by the time you get it, it's already dead.
If you want to "share" the fly you have to open both your hands and allow it to curiously come to you.

Kinda like the proverb "The teacher comes when the student is ready".

And I'm not trying to say that I have mastered this or anything, but that's how I've come to look at creative writing in general.
