How does this sound as a movie treatment?
It seems like apocalypse movies (2012) and tv shows (flashforward), videogames are all the thing now.
What do you think of this plot. Very rough and conceptual,so bear with me:
It's 11/11/11: Israel/USA hit supposed Iranian nuke power plants . Iran has enough designer weapons to sink 2 aircraft carriers and a couple dozen other war ships. This effectively closes down the Gulf of Hormuz, which is the only pathway for ships getting from the oilfields of the mideast to US and Europe. All this gives cause for Israel/US to nuke about a quarter of Iran.
Overnight oil goes to $300/barrel
Within a day or two, explosions in every major city in the US are occurring in malls, power plants, apartment buildings and other soft targets. Americans are told that for the past 30 years, Iranians have been coming into the US to set up terror cells for just this occasion. Suddenly America becomes similar to Baghdad. Martial law has to be declared in most large cities, effectively shutting down businesses everywhere as no one can go out and buy or in some cases, work.
Here's the twist...the "terror cells" are actually special operation troops employed by a secret shadow world government (kind of like "Moonraker") to cause chaos resulting in cancelling out any constitutional liberties.
The heroes are troops who rebel from the shadow government that pays them and regular guys that can support them.

The post regional civilization that follows is still up in the air, as I don't want to do a MadMax. Would be a sequel
Any hints ? Yes, it's "negative" and "scary", but the new post regional nation of local movements in the sequel can be a vehicle for an enlightened view of the future. More than tribal; more self reliant creativity, etc.
OK, critics and writers, anyone want to weigh in ?
