DXM Pills

So recently my friend told me about his experience with DXM and I'm thinking of trying it. I found some pills in my house that have 30 mg in each one. THe only problem I have is they also have 600 mg of guaifinesin in it and i have no idea what that isDoes anyone have any experience as to how much i should take (im 6 ft 170 lbs) and what that guafinisen stuff is and if its safe or not?
