our dog...
he used to be the brave protector, now he is going both blind and deaf, or he has been for quite some time, and now i think his nose is going out on him too. tonight after supper he was walking around the kitchen sniffing and searching, walking into the cabinet doors as if he had no idea where he was. he seemed to find himself again after a while but it is suddenly not easy to face up to facts.

i remember he used to patroll around the whole garden and fenced perimeter every night like clockwork and nothing could stop him from doing his rounds, not treats or anything, he just had to go make sure everything was all right
