greatest guitar solo

whats your pick?

wow there are so many i can think of, but only one i can choose...

i'll have to go with pearl jam's "alive". theres something about that solo i can't get enough of. of course this is an opinion, and i'm curious to see what all you guys think.

hmm, i don't know. there's some killer stuff on santana's caravanseri record. tom morello has done some great work. the three kings. b.b. gets me the most but albert and freddie are no slouches. jimmy page. hendrix. i can't really pick a single solo but i could rattle off names a little longer. keith richards. robby krieger, joe pass, kenny burrell, wes montgomery. gabor szabo. charlie christian. django! tim mahoney has done some great ones too... check out use of time or lifes not a race or taiyed or or or. also, ernest ranglin and bradley nowell. billy bauer, chet atkins, chuck berry, hank garland, dimebag.

there are seriouslly way too many guitarists to choose from. if i could do that i probably wouldn't even be able to narrow it down to one song. at least you didn't ask what the greatest solo was... because then you get into charlie parker, illinois jaquet, duke ellington, barney bigard, oh oh wait, you didn't ask that. good.

Probably the greatest solo ever.

Machine Gun has a killer solo. Some of my other favorite Hendrix solos are Somewhere Over the Rainbow,Little Wing,Voodoo Chile,Bold as Love,Red House. Also like Tony Iommi, especially Warning. Jimmy page-Heartbreaker,Dazed and Confused,Since I've Been Loving You,Black Dog,Ten Years Gone. Eddie Van Halen, of course, Eruption. David Gilmour-Time,
Comfortably Numb. Joe Perry- Train Kept Rollin'. Just off the top of my head.

Probably their most commercial tune but 'Screaming for Vengeance' has a pretty kick ass solo as well as the beginning of 'The Hellion/Electric Eye'.

certainly not the BEST, but my favorite is the 30 second jam at the end of "We Will Rock You" by Queen. the rest of the song i'm sure yuou all know all TOO well (god knows it gets pretty annoying), and fuck we are the champions right in the ass, but that solo, DAMN.

Thats the only part of the song they should ever play on the radio.

Speaking of lovely guitar songs, 'Fearless' just started. Thats a beautiful hook.

Ever hear Jimmy Page play 'Bron-Yr-Aur' at the very end of Physical Graffiti? Very cool but its way to short at just two minutes.
