Blaming Movies + Music For Real Life Violence?
I hate it when people blame movies, video games, animes, tv and music for real life violence. The ignorance to assume that banning these things will solve the problem is just as bad.
People (usually republicans) call and boycott to force everyone to ban music like Marilyn Manson, and violent movies and games. How about banning the New Testament? How many people have committed acts of violence after reading some biblical passages? Quite a few. But would people ever call for a boycott of the christian bible because it caused violence? No. Probably because most of them are republicans, they wouldn't want to ban it, and focus on other more easily demonized forms like Manson and anything non-mainstream, despite their little book A double standard? Absolutely, all forms are described as causing real-life violence, yet their little book gets a free pass. The ideology is that not every person who sees violence or hears "bad music" will kill, but SOME will. Well, not everyone who reads the new testaments goes nuts and kills... but some do. And what's really funny is when the parents & morons like jack Thompson complain that violent TV & video games is making their children violent. Makes you wonder shit they're doing letting their children watch it in the first place... |

if movies and music create real life violence then what creates movies and music?

its not a matter of simply being created, its a matter of what influences the creations to be manifest

I was recently watching "Richard Ramirez's" biography again for the 20th time. He was an admitted satan worshipper obviously listening to Devil's music and such, sprawling satans sign on the walls and spewing out things like "Hail Satan" in the courtroom. I realised that this guy just usses this "Satan" thing to try to make himself look more sinister than he really is. He is a complete monster don't get me wrong, but it all seemed like a charade. The guy is just a loser...a winky who i think, thought it was cool to use "Satan" to boost his fame in the "serial killer" world, if you want to call it that. It's all bullshit, people make up their minds on their own, without help from outside forces IMO.

I was recently watching Darren Lynn Bousman's film Saw 3 ,and it made me think about the many people in my past who helped to shape me into what I've become today..............

I wouldn't be that surprised if violence in the media does promote violence in real life, but I still don't think that gives people the right to impose censorship on pretend violence.

Agreed ^ it certainly does.
The problem is when violence is persistently portrayed in unrealistic ways. Just like racist trends in TV, violent trends can influence behaviour, especially in children. |

It's stupid to think that glamorizing and encouraging violence isn't encouraging especially to young children. Not that I give a shit about that shit.
