Radiohead - for getting me into 'new' music (all i used to listen to was old/classic rock)

Do Make Say Think - for getting me into instrumental post-rock and introducing some other sweet canadian indie music and stuff.

I always used to listen to Metallica. They basically got me playing electric guitar and into that whole genre of music really.

Latelt though, ive been listing to Top 40 stuff and whatev is on the pop or hip hop stations. I dont know why, just needed something different i guess.

I have a few for every main genre I listen to.

Hip-Hop : WTC/MF Doom/Notorious
Grunge : Alice in Chains/Soundgarden
Jam Band: Keller Williams/The Dead/The Allman Brothers Band (southern rock?)
Punk Rock: Dead Boys/The Damned/Gun Club
Death Metal: Arsis/Coalesce/Napalm Death
Other Metal: Mastodon/Sleep/Megadeth/Opeth
'80s Alt: The Smiths, The Pixies, The Smithereens
'90s Alt: Blind Melon, Tool

Shit, this is becoming drawn-out and pointless. I guess I'll say the definitive would be Alice in Chains.

Opeth is Death Metal, but ya.

I've been listening to the Beatles lately and I really think their awesome. I never paid them no mind before but just what they write about and the trypes of instruments they use is great in my opinion.
And this is coming from someone who listens to Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Panters, all that heavy shit. I saw someone post Deicide, I thought I was the only one that ever heard of that band. Those dude are straight up devil worshipers, christs sake the one guy has an upsidedown cross branded into his forehead.

I'me along the middle road as far as what type of music. I like rap too , I like the rap that has a straight line beat with people taking turns at the mic, sorta like wu-tang. I dont care for all the fancy background music mixed in the rap. Eminem is awesome lyrically.bongsmilie

Here i've included (a totally random list of songs )some groups and songs that have stuck with me. I tried to pick ones that are great but largely unheard of. I was a music major for a while and i took a while to compile this list so tell me what you think>

How about the Beatles.. genius listen to "a day in the life" when you're toasted.. instant musical orgasm the music actually travels around you frome ear phone (or speaker) to earphone. Also "Because", "strawberry fields" anything else they've done

Also the cliche Dark Side of the Moon and the Wall..
listen to "echoes" "San Tropez", "watch "live at Pompeii"

Led Zepplin try "No Quarter" among others

Radio Head: Ok Computer
Aqua Lungs first album
Muse "Absolution" album is good
Sumblime's first album is enduring

Random Songs:
Pixies- the song at the end of fight club is tighht
Leonard Cohen: 'Famous blue rain coat" "everybody knows"
Beach Boys: "Good Vibrations"
Phantom planet: "turn, smile, shift, repeat
Bright eyes: "first day of my life"
Elliot smith: "everything means nothing to me" i listened to this while tripping on moRning glory seeds and was blown away.. listen to his "Either Or" album
john lennon: "isolation"
pink floyd: "cirrus minor"
Pink Floyd: "whats uh the deal"
Radio Head: i think its called "glasshouse
Biggie Smalls song , i think its called "Suicidal Thoughts" is great
Atmosphere: "summer song"
bone thugs n harmony: "crossroads (original mix)" not the crossroads song that is played on the radio constantly..

there are so many others, i've been on probation and miss smoking so much to these songs, but they are great in any case... damn UA's
