^ haha yes

Animal vs. Buddy Rich ftw

and Buddy Miles, i feel that Mitch Mitchell pwns him big time. Jimi did better with a jazz style drummer who could focus on backing Jimi up rather than a drummer playing a straight rock beat and singing half the songs.

Man... have you heard Santana and Buddy Miles- live album?

'sides, I wasn't talking about Hendrix. But I do agree with you. Except Band of Gypsies was the shit and you need to agree.

dur, double post.

2 songs. the 2nd one starts at about 5:10 or so, and it has more distinct drumming... but hey, take 10 minutes and watch some melvins.

oh yeah, and theres a cameo at the end

shame on me i haven't heard that album, what's it called?
but buddy miles can't hold a candle to the original santana drummer, Mike Shrieve (cant believe i forgot to put him on my list). that guy was incredible. Only 19 when they played at woodstock apparently, and his solo is monsterous. i saw this other version of Soul Sacrifice on youtube from may of '71 and its so intense, that guy was so good, but you can definetly tell he got most of his shit from buddy rich.

and oh yeah band of gypsies was the shit no doubt. thats my favorite hendrix album of the 4 officially released ones during his life. although i dont listen to much hendrix, my favorite line up is the mitch mitchell/billy cox rhythm section during his last year or whatever. Noel Redding was a prick. and not even funky at all.

any drummer with a sweet drum kit could do nearly the same exact thing he just did. i dislike when ppl have to be like "omg this person is TeH bestz at drumz!!!" , its music, its subjective.

Santanas drummer at woodstock smashed those drums till the acid dripped out of everyones ears in teh crowd and made a river

Carlos Santana/Buddy Miles - LIVE! -- it's half buddy miles and half the Santana band. Santana has a great solo in Them Changes.

I think Noel Redding made some pretty awesome bass lines. And may have not been that funky (I guess?) but they sure did groove.

And now you've got me confused. Band of Gypsies was your favorite but you favor Mitchell? That's fine, but that album Buddy Miles played on.

Oh and I still agree with you about Mitchell being a more exciting drummer.

so as soon as I saw the name of this thread I was goin to chime in and say Neil Peart.. but it seems I was beaten to it..

I was kinda susprised that nobody posted this video, it's of the R30 tour, and it's one of my favorite of his solos.

Dave Lombardo is quite possibly the fastest drummer, a Lombardo roll is quite something, but what about Keith Moon? Not only musically talented, but just cool as well. You only have to look at some of the Who's live stuff to realise how brilliant he was.
I'm also going to bring Rodger Taylor into the list. Yes, he fucked up on Bohemian Rhapsody, but if he'd have recorded another take they would have destroyed the master. However, live he is phenomenal, playing perfectly and singing perfectly at the same time, he has fucking balls.
