YaHooka: What do YOU think it should be?
PLEASE READ BEFORE VOTING
There has been an ongoing controversy among mods and members alike, for many years now. That is, should YaHooka be a respectable and successful marijuana site, or should it be a haven for irreverence and bad behavior? I would like, for the record, to get all the members input on this: RESPECTABLE: The site would strive to be more dedicated to marijuana issues, laws, use, etc. Rules governing behavior would be in place to ensure that members are treated respectfully, given a chance to have a say, and put a good face on marijuana users for visitors and the internet community. WILD WEST: Basically, other than a few rules in place to protect member privacy and prevent members from breaking the law (using the site as a means to buy and sell drugs, et al), it would be a big FFA, open to discussion of any topic, rude behavior, etc. In such a site, pretty much anything would be tolerated, except breaking the rules, where you get banned and that's it, no whining. Individual mods might have different requirements for their own subforums, but basically, those would be the rules, and if you don't like it, get lost. Which would you prefer? ![]() The Rev |

but i personally cant get behind an all or nothing ultimatum like that, and i dont think a "by the book" approach is good or worthwhile, because it is too easy to become pharisees in that kind of environment |

Um I honestly think the way it is is fine. Every forum is pretty much respectable already aside from FFA, which is the point of it. If the other forums aren't as clean as you'd like, tighten up on those and leave ffa alone.

Since there are members who believe that we should not be limited to two choices, I added a third for BOTH / OTHER. Personally, I don't think we can cater to both crowds. I think it's either/or for us. As a mod, I get complaint PMs fairly regularly by those who feel encroached upon by the Wild West Outlaws, because they are trying to be Civilized. We have lost good members because of member behavior, and mod response to that behavior, alike. And I think that, as an Internet Institution, YaHooka can't be all things to all people. We have to shit or get off the pot. We either have to civilize this place, or accept that it isn't civilized and revel in it, and say, either way, "This is what we are, and if you don't like it, too bad."
But that's just my 2¢ ![]() The Rev |

Now that there are more and more members joining I feel YaHooka needs to pull itself together; However, YH is a website. The members are the ones who need to realize :finger: is a shitty way to communicate with one another. The Mods must this place into shape with an Iron Fist to make this place more bongsmilie ![]() My thoughts as well. What we have now is fine, we just need to clean it up a bit.

Both---Kinda where it is now---maybe make sure that there isn't as much bleed over of FFA-type threads into the other sections.
edit: i guess a question i have is if it went 'respectable'- would that mean the end of all non marijuana related forums? if so, then count me as wild west.

Let's agree to not speak about anything illegal out of the respect for the police officers that frequent our boards.
'weed' seems to be popular around here

Wild West!
There are already way too many 'respectable' pot forums on the internet, Yahooka will shrivel up and die if we go down that road. This place would be boring as shit if all we did was talk about marijuana related topics.
I think the reason why most yahookans stick around (at least why I do) is for the shenanigans (for lack of a better word). There is a reason such a huge portion of the sites threads/posts are contained in FFA. In your head think about all the great posters in the history of Yahooka - they are more than likely mostly (if not all) "FFA dwellers". It has been said more than a few times lately, but the members of a forum ARE the forum. Anybody can install vbulletin software on a server, but for a forum to be interesting (as yahooka sometimes is/used to be) you need quality members. If you get rid of FFA and it's posters, all you are going to be left with is a bunch of n00bs posting like 10 posts (probably crappy ones, since they don't have any incentive to build a reputation) and then moving on. Look at Inquiring Minds for proof. There is no need for change here. This forum has always had a life of it's own, and I think we ought to just let it keep being Yahooka, and not a grasscity clone. |

I agree with LHM. I don't see a problem with the shit slinging that goes on in FFA, as long as it stays in FFA. Most of the members here now what goes in FFA and if they don't like it, they shouldn't post in there. Simple as that. If someone were to step out of line in a forum besides FFA then a mod should send them a PM and tell them what they did wrong and to please not do so again. If the problem persist they should be banned for a month.

Well said Puffman.
Keep the FFA wild west style. Just ban those people who turn every thread into a shitty argument.
