^^ from what i hear you're mostly right, ssd.
i don't much like pale ales or really bitey lagers, for most of the same reasons i don't like wine.

With food, it depends on the food obviously, but most of the things I like to eat go better with red wine.
If I were the kind of guy who liked to drink a glass of wine while relaxing I'd go with red, since I like the taste better in general, but I'm a beer man. If I'm getting hammered off wine, white. Much less of a hangover than red.

Lowered inhibitions from drugs pushed me beyond my usual 'no-thread-starting' mentality.

I used to drink whites for years but somehow switched to red in the last three or so years.
Now I drink only red wine, mostly South Australian Shiraz. |

Not true, though many are lead to believe so. Actually, ALL wine has sulfites in it, as much as 5-40 milligrams per liter, even if no sulfur was added. The sulfites are a bi-product of the the yeasts used to convert sugar to alcohol. Your body also produces about a gram of sulfites a day. Foods that most of us eat daily have more sulfites than most wines. Certainly there are some that are allergic to sulfites but it's more likely they would experience anaphylactic shock before a wicked bad hangover. Chances are if you have a hangover from wine, red or white, you have exceeded the line of moderation.....which isn't the most pleasant of places I've been myself. HTAM |

I typically don't like wine unless I'm on some sedatives that make it so one glass will do me more than enough...
My folks brought this wine back from dinner....Muscat.... it's really good. Very fruity. Okay even not benzo-d out. I also love me some brandy, a derivative of wine. So eat it chumps. Last edited by eldizle; 09-19-2007 at 05:12 AM. |

when i was in europe this summer, me, and everyone i was with drank multiple bottles of wine a night and felt fine in the morning. they dont add that shit for preservatives over there. whatever amount is in the wine is natural and typically very small. as far as im concerned, its the sulfites until someone convinces me otherwise. i drink alot, so i dont really buy the over moderation deal. - i dont agree with the 'good wines dont have it' either - if you buy any good wine in the united states, it will say 'contains sulfites.' id be hard pressed to find a bottle that doesnt say that - excluding organic wine. and believe me, i dont drink shitty wine, unless i do it by choice. |
