i just spent five minutes tripping out on this. the rotation direction didnt change for me by just staring at it directly. i looked at it out of the corner of my eye and it changed, once i blinked it changed again.

i dont see how she could be spinning counterclockwise. i mean, you can see her face is left, and the ponytail is to the right. and her face is going away and the ponytail is going away. that shit just gave me a headache.

I can make it go either way. In fact, I can make her wobble back and forth for a while if I try. When I was a kid, I found that if a fan was going fast enough I could make it seem to spin in either direction as well.

Look closely at her shadow and it's easier to switch them.

I initially saw her moving clockwise. For a long while, looked at all the parts of her body to see which movement patterns they followed. The area where I found that changed her movement for me was the feet. Very similar to where Verk suggested.

I saw this on some other board yesterday and thought about posting it here. I got clockwise too. The direction is easily changable by watching the bottom foot.

I see it as clockwise. I can make it go counter clockwise but it takes a while and goes back to clockwise real quick.

What's even weirder is how this picture can appear to be spinning both ways. If people can see it spinning both ways, which way is it REALLY spinning? Or is it spinning at all?

^ The extended foot really just moves from one side back to the other. The figure doesn't spin, just turn from right to left like a sprinkler. The lack of defining lines on the figure provides the illusion of it spinning. It tricks your brain because it looks so much like something spinning that its easiest to assume it does.

i just made her go counterclockwise for a minute. then I was trying to make her go the way I see naturally, and it made my head hurt. Really bad. It still kind of hurts. Come to think of it, its the left side of my brain that feels strained.
