I get enough shit from my own family who doesn't understand vegetarianism, trust me. I'm just applying the same rules that I learned from my mother, who said that if I wanted to be a vegetarian then I would have to cook my own meals or eat whatever she was eating. Same thing with my wife, if she wants meat, she can cook it herself, otherwise she can eat what I cook.

Do you leave the house every time your wife or somebody cooks meat? Or do you make them cook outside?

No, I just tend to avoid the kitchen.

Humans are at a point now where a lot of us don't need meat to survive, we are smart enough to consume a balanced diet of plants. Animals don't have the same kind of option in terms of rejecting meat.

To simplify (overly?) I would say animals essentially kill for survival while humans kill for greed (myself included), unless the human is poverty stricken and it sort of is an issue of survival.

Ill take a crack at it. Not all animals eat eachother. there are veg animals too. Some animals also lick their own privates and booties, eat their own young, or sniff eachother's rear ends. so should we imitate what we see animals doing?

animals dont really have a choice what they eat, but humans have the capacity--or some do --to make informed compassionate decisions. that being said, i dont hurrang people about their diet, but it does influence my choice of association, where i will or will not eat etc. i will share some info, video or a booklet with select people who i think would like it or are harboring latent vegetarianism

i honestly think its more of a question of the inhumane treatment of the animals in the 'slaugherhouses'. there's safer, more sympathetic, and more hygienic ways of preparing animals than the current norm.

you do know that's not true, right? I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, so I want to make sure.

i made it pretty clear in my prior post, apparently you do not understand the concept of biodiversity and a healthy ecosystem. there is nothing darwinian about the mass extinction of 100s of species a day due to human activities such as cattle farming

of course people who choose not to eat meat are morally superior to those who eat meat, or else they wouldnt be vegetarian in the first place.

its the same with issues like global warming, you either give a shit and actually try to do something about it, or you dont give a shit and you try and rationalize your laziness with bs.

so is your issue with the way we treat the animals we kill to eat or with eating meat itself

i dont know man. killing a big ass cow is always going to be a grotesque bloodbath of howling, struggle and gore. no way around it! ive seen videos where theyve been bled with their tracheae removed and they stills struggle off the hooks and run around banging to get out for quarter of an hour.

^ lots of cultures around the world showed the utmost respect and appreciation for the animals they used for food and other materials. there's no way that can be compared to the living nightmare of slaughterhouses.
