The time machine, and thoughts
We had to do an essay in anthropology the other week about human evolution, and where we will be in later years (referring to our body structure, society, etc.) Our prof. recommended we read The Time Machine by H.G. Wells. I found it absolutely amazing. I really loved it. It made me think a lot about our society, and what we, as a being, have in for us in the future. Anyone else read this book? what are your thoughts

Love Wells, always have. Time Machine is one of his better works, being both a radical comment on modern society at the time, and a fabulist story which captures the imagination. You can extrapolate the plight of the Eloi and the Morlocks and apply it to pretty much every social situation in which human beings cohabitate in a society.
Smart prof.

ask this in higher thoughts, youll get more responses. i havnt read it, but a, interested in stuff of the sort... ever read kurt vonnegut, good stuff,, or anthem by ayn rand ...also really good about a civilzation in the future that supresses all natural though and im pretty sure they find away to dilute all the color in the world

Good book.
In the movie, Weena is played by a very young, and very hot Yvette Mimieux. I can totally see why a Morlock would want to eat her. ![]() The Rev |

I think it's pretty difficult to predict where evolution will take us over the course of the next hundred thousand years. I think one safe assumption to make is that (due to our gradual acceptance of other races) we'll all somehow become brown eventually because of interracial relationships. Whether or not we'll be driven underground and forced to selectively breed our minds is a little bit far fetched compared to the other guess.

the only question is how long it will take society to stop using old races to describe themselves. even now how many are really the race they say, i mean most prob go by like 50% irish for example, but alot will just say they are whatever the culture they grew up in was. i know alot of asians who are fully bread asians but call them selves americans, which is great but theres the opposite side as well. so i think it will be way long time before we ever get rid of those name tags, if we ever do or if its even what we should do, i dont know!

There are certain physical features which are common with people from certain places in the world. That's something you can't run from until we all "mix". Identifying yourself as American, is more of a title relating to your nationality rather than race. Many people identify with the language they speak. I'm not 100% Russian, but I say I am because I speak that language at home and it's part of my identity.

if there were EVER to be a time machine built by ANY lifeorm in the universe, we would know and there would be no 911, no saddam, no hitler etc. etc. does anybody understand this??? if they EVER was a time machine, wouldnt someone go back and change it and we would see the change/the guy in the time machine already or before in the past
