PeerGaurdian

I know a lot of people probably already know about this, but I wanted this in FFA just to get more views and more people install this.

Download PeerGuardian 2.0 RC1 Test 2 - A powerful yet petite firewall application especially designed for P2P users who want to protect their computers - Softpedia

Highly recommended that anybody with an internet connection should always have this program running, especially if you file share of any type.

For some more elaboration:

a) They have your IP address, preventing them from connecting to you doesn't change anything from a legal standpoint.
b) The blocklists are public submitted information, full of overly wide banmasks, legitimate IPs, and the like. Just as there are legitimate IPs on the list there are illegitimate IPs not on the list.
c) Since the blocklists are freely available to anyone they know exactly what IP ranges are on the list and what IP ranges are not.
d) There is nothing stopping them from using a outsourcing to another organisation with a different IP range.|
e) There is nothing stopping them from using a non-blocked, residential internet connection.

But there's plenty of people not using it. I'd rather have just that much extra. If anything, I like to just see how many times outside sources are scanning peoples computers. Turns out: a shitload. But most of those are just advertising companies, which I still prefer to have blocked either way.

Is it a-ok with Vista64? Gives me a message about missing a driver package after installation finishes.

you shouldnt download it from anywhere except the phoenixlabs website. right click it in the bottom right and go to "about" and if it doesnt read "PeerGuardian 2.0 Beta 6c (01/30/2007)" then you dont have the legit latest one.

Not sure, I am running 32bit and didn't have an issue.
