That was my first and last pipe break, man I liked that pipe. Pretty much been hitting a chillum for a long time now, which is actually a really fancy stem for a future bong, I bought on my honeymoon in VT 5 years ago. Sounds like I should really get on buying a bong when I talk about it in terms of years, eh?

Had a shitty day at work yesterday however it brought a good sad but sweet conversation with a woman from Indiana who's husband had just had a stroke on Sunday. Totally let me know I was on the right path career wise which is a good thing to know after years of indecision.

Just got outta school and found out I'm off next Thursday for Thanksgiving which I'm working and missing out on but means an assload of money and hopefully I'll just spend it talking to people who are stuck in the hospital.

Spending the rest of my day off with my lady, it's gonna be quite good. Plus I get paid in a couple days and that's real nice plus I'm gonna buy her Christmas presents early and they will be good.

Oh and I guess I gotta sign up for next semesters classes somewhere around the end of this week which is always a good thing.

I wouldn't think of it in terms of age, Sage. I've got a Toker II that I purchased in 1974...& is still hittin without quittin.
I think the impacted resin is holding it together...

Nice dude, how'd you keep it safe so long? Have you moved much?

That Toker II should be in a museum. Thanks for the picture.
Today kicks ass because last night me and mine went to a poetry slam / drum circle and it was cooking with gas. Also, my friend gave me a gorgeous incense burner that we used to smudge the room. I used it this morning. Thanks!

Thanks Sage....& yeah, I've moved a LOT!!
I bought that in Old Town [Chicago 1974], which was kind of an area for us hipsters to hang out...head shops...dudes peddling anything 1 could want for 1's noggin.
Drove back to Denver [where I was living at that time] & back then, shit like 'drug checkpoints' or 'seat-belt checkpoints' & 'drunk-driving checkpoints' weren't even thought about yet. We wouldn't give it a 2nd thought to be carrying a few ozs [or a QP] in our vehicle, as getting pulled-over was only if you broke the law...not just to see 'what you're up to'.
I had already done my hitch-hiking cross-country [3 times] & ventures into Mexico, so those days were behind me [like living in Tucson for awhile & flying weed into Chicago's O'Hare airport]...but I had a bunch of different apts/houses with assorted pals or girlfriends & the Toker II stayed primarily in my bedroom. NEVER brought it out at parties or to toke with more than 3 of us.
Then when I had to split Denver rather abruptly in 1984 [the night before my court appearance, where Judge Psycho was gonna lay 6 months + 1 day on me...followed by a $2,000 fine, 120 hrs of community service, & 2 yrs of monitored Antabuse [the drug that makes you sick if you drink any alcohol].
My buddy, who was helping me move from Denver to NC, noticed the Toker on my closet shelf & asked if I wanted to bring it or leave it. I couldn't decide, as I was so frazzled on the speedy midnight-move, so my pal placed it in my car. He knew that I would've regretted leaving it.
So, here we were...driving east on I-70 at 2 a.m....just 7 hrs before my court appearance & my 1962 Ford Comet breaks down in eastern Colorado. All we would've needed was a State Troop to see us alongside the highway, broken down, car packed to the ceiling with all my worldly possessions & all he would've had to do was ask if he could be of any assistance, call in my drivers license & find out that I was supposed to be in court at 9 a.m. I wonder where these 2 shady-looking characters think they're going? It would've been THE END!!
This is 1 of the main reasons I always carry a knife now -- my buddy, who knew a thing or 2 about engines, asked if I had a knife on me [which I did]. He spliced a couple wires...screwed something into something else [aren't I quite the mechanic? ] & we were up & running once again...without another mechanical problem for the remaining 2,000 miles.
Of course, by the time we reached my folks' house in NC, 2nd gear was history. Starting in about KY or TN, we had to shift from 1st to 3rd [3-speed on the column]...but we did make it...the Toker II was still in 1 piece...& we were slamming beers the entire drive here. We really learned our lesson, huh? If I didn't have that knife on me, lord knows how my life would've played-out.
It was a tough thing to leave a Teamster job at The Rocky Mtn News...all my pals...my girlfriend(s)...my bar where I was established...leave EVERYTHING a month before my 30th birthday...to come to a State where I had no job, no friends, no connections. I'd sit alone in my apt down here [my buddy, who helped me move, went back to HIS home-base in Chicago to get a Union job as a pipe-fitter, which was his line-of-work].
So, to make a long story even longer...yes, Sage my friend, the 1974 Toker II has seen quite a bit of mileage & has stayed intact [except for the glass-stems, but now I went aluminum] for 35 yrs. Didn't mean to write a book about it, but WTF? I got nothing happening today & thought I'd tell this 1 segment in my twisted life's history. Hope it wasn't too boring.

Thanks for all the nice feedback on 1 of my episodes with 'fleeing from the law'. I've had more close calls than Harrison Ford in 'The Fugitive' with my antics as an outlaw in the 70s & 80s....& btw, HH, that close-call & a few others are already in my 170 page book titled "Left Right Here".
I've got it all on a CD [or would that be a DVD? ] & have a HUGE book of prospective publishers to send it off...while keeping my hopes up on some publishing company finding it worth their time & effort to market my jibberish.
Again, I thank you all for the interest shown on my behalf & will get you all cameo appearances in the film that'll follow!!

Today at around 4am Rishi came unto the bed. First he stands on the edge on his back legs and sniffs my nose. Then comes up lays between my Wife and I, which in uncommon, and goes to sleep. Nice!

Yesterday he was asleep under the blankets and our other cat, who isn't usually laying around with Rishi, was laying right beside him except on top of the blankets. Guess they just need that buffer?

I got an email from school saying that there's a regional power outage and the campus is shut down till further notice. Woopwoop, my break starts 2 hours earlier now! I get all of this next week off. I would go snowboarding if I would have gotten the email earlier.. lol
edit: err not. I have to go in 10 min now.. However, my break still starts today.
