Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman
Seriously, I want to shank Letterman and the whole audience for the way they treat this guy when he comes on.
Joaquin is clearly down to earth and isnt going to play in to the whole talk show thing, and the audience and letterman treat him as if hes a lowlife for not doing so. so ridiculous. i think he handled himself very well, very much like i would handle myself going on a stupid dumb fuck talk show like Letterman. heres a link whadda ya think |

consider the fact that he IS ON A FUCKING TALK SHOW, why the fuck WOULDN't he get treated like shit, look at his behavior.
you idiot, if he wasn't going to 'play the whole talk show thing' then wtf is he doing on a talk show. I don't watch tv but from what i have seen letterman is a pretty baddass talk show host and this guy deserved what he got. waaa waaaa poor guy blah blah lol he will get over it im sure, but clearly black, you cannot. im sure he appreciates you spamming mb's with his embarrassing lil pub. stunt.

This is an act.
Joaquin Phoenix is a great actor. He and Casey Affleck have stated they're making a documentary. I guarantee it's an Andy Kaufmanesque act and this is a stunt to see how far MSM is willing to go along with it. They're probably laughing their ass off and working on their next Oscar.

hey aurora, first off don't call me an idiot, you fuck.
he was probably contractually obligated to go on that show to promote the movie, so he did so. but dude, i would be the same way on a talk show. i wouldnt be able to stand the fake audience laughing at absolutely nothing. or the host asking me tell "funny stories" about the making of the movie, or the stupid bald fuck interupting me with his stupid laugh. i wouldn't give them shit, just like this guy does. i fucking love it. he reminds me of what it would be like if one of my buddies went on letterman. hes not playing into it, its genius, its rebellion. |

good point. if he was contractually obligated to show his face on lettamen, then fine.
I pick up what you are putting down, Bearsy, about your Andy Kaufmanesque act, and that could be, too. In the end, wtf yo, this thread is retarded. He is being himself as much as letterman is. The audiance is cued when to laugh, they are nothing more than a mass of puppets controlled by the program. In grade 12 dringlish (Drama english) I had some friends that flew to NY to see a live Letterman show. They ended up getting kicked out 1/3 of the way through becuase they were laughing at 'the wrong time'. Im off on a tangent now aren't i. oh well all I can say is WHO CARES. WHY DO YOU CARE. RAWRMEOW

I thought the interview was pretty funny.
He and/or Casey A. have definitely not stated that they're making a documentary or anything about it being an act, but if anyone isn't aware of those rumors then they probably haven't been following along very closely. He's a really interesting actor (though he's no DD-L) from a really interesting background/family. Definitely worth watching where this goes as it's a pretty smart play on the typical media bullshit.

From what I've read he's just over this movie and trying to promote it.
At the premiere he made the press sign some form of release if they wanted to talk to him and no one did. So, when the movie ended he just left and didn't stop to talk to anyone, even the director. And I hope it's not a stunt, Letterman acted like a jackass on that episode and got the interview he deserved. |
