on the real though, I don't play in traffic. I'm not sure what board you ride has anything to do with your respect for people on the road. Anyone who rides in traffic, including those asshole bicyclists that think its cool to ride the line deserve to be hit.
When I boarded in the city for philly 40 nights, I never road on sidewalks with people on them. Shit is stupid.
You have to gauge the area, and see where you fit in. Cutting people off and getting in the way is obnoxious, regardless of how you do it, imo

i am not saying all but when i was 15-17 and skated, i also did alot of other illegal things.
but, most of the time its the age, not the hobby, as i know quite a few laid back skaters who are quite older.

where i live it's a crime to ride a bike on sidewalks... you gotta get in with the traffic. it's fun if you're downtown in the middle of rush hour LOL.

This reminds me of the summer of grade 11. I visited my friend dan for the summer who was a skater and so were all his friends obv. (he lived in a mountain town 3 hours from where I live, epic drug experiences woot) and they tried to teach me how to skate. I was absurdly horrific at skating - trying to keep up with them riding downtown, well, it was embarrassing to say the least. So many times my board would go flying into traffic or people. lol. I was decent towards teh end of the summer tho but that was the end of my skate boarding days. (Decent as in I could pretty well travel a long distance without falling but I had to keep speeds at a minimum and no hard corners etc)

Anyway, I think that a lot of people fear the packs of skaters that collect infront of various buildings and such, so they hate. Generally people hate what they fear, yes?

i got hit by someone on a bike while minding my own business on a pedestrian sidewalk once. i think he actually fell into the street and i was basically unscathed. prez didnt even knock me down ya hurd?

o ya skateboarding on sidewalks is illegal here too lol. i got ticketed for it. i've seen people get arrested for trying to run away from the cops while the cop is writing the ticket. its bs. the cops will even take minors back to their houses and talk to parents and shit if they catch them skating.

Never understood the hate towards other forms of transportation. Sometimes it is scary being a cyclist. Some motorist will willing force a rider off the road or sometimes even worse, causing damage to the person. Luckily I live in a area where cyclist are the norm so respect is given more often than not.

Scatter pretty much nailed it. Any moron on anything other than a car that's impeding traffic deserves your contempt. This is coming from a guy who bikes to work relatively often and used to skate. I've never seen anyone longboard through traffic though, only one I've seen come close was this kid named Kevin and he's a twat anyway.
