One thing about runaway inflation, a dollar charged today is a penny paid tomorrow. Shouldn't everyone go out and charge as much as they can so that they can pay it off in inflated dollars? |

Actually, you're not fucked if you saw it coming and did more than panic, post and dig up article after article to finally prove that YES, we're fucked.
Funny, 4 pages of problems and no discussion of solutions. No even talk of the possibility of the minute chance of a glimmer of a solution. I'm shocked. Really. Quote:

There is no solution that we, as humble posters on YaHooka, could possibly implement to avoid this catastrophe.
However, you CAN take action to protect yourself. Read up on past hyperinflations, and how people protected themselves and even prospered from them. You know it's coming. That gives you an advantage over 99.9% of the people out there. Learn until you understand it, then, as you say, evolve and adapt. ![]() The Rev |

Quite a few countries have experienced a totally currency meltdown through hyperinflation without the world devolving into some Road Warrior-esque scenario. Generally, the eventual outcome is dictatorship, but even that doesn't last forever and it isn't always the case.
Hyperinflation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia What I think we are watching is the collapse of a world power, not unlike the collapses of the European world powers 80 years ago. The difference is, in the age of nuclear armaments, we don't have the luxury of appointing a Hitler to lead us into world war. At the bottom of the whole thing is not money but capital, and the majority of capital (the actual value that the money represents) is human. People will not suddenly forget how to innovate or solve problems or utilize resources to improve their lives, and that's where all the economic power really comes from. So don't expect to be battling the Lord Humongous over your precious gasoline stash anytime soon. Just take steps to protect your savings, and develop a strategy for weathering the storm. ![]() The Rev |

hey did you guys know that the economy is actually starting to show signs of a turnaround? most analysts are saying there will be a rebound in consumer spending by late 2009 and we should see a healthier job market by early 2010

Read the article I posted. The same thing happened in Japan, when they tried to print their way out of recession. They had a brief turn around followed by a total tanking of the market. The only difference is, they had a savings base to spend as well. We've been in nearly insolvent debt for 2 decades.
