So basically my neighbor, who doesnt work for the town, state or anything like that decides to put up a no parking sign in front of his house. i have a party every friday night and sometimes people park there. now first of all i dont think you can just go and put up signs like that in front of your house and second, he parked right in front of the sign about 30 mins ago. i'v noticed him putting up the sign the other day, so i parked right behind him just to be a jerk. he came outside and said "hey read the sign buddy" so i said "do you know how to read yourself?" and we got into an argument about how its his house and no one can park out front. so i asked him why he was parked there and he threatened to call the cops on me. my car is still parked there and so is his. no cops yet. is this right for him to do?

you should look up your city laws and your HOA rules. We use to have my sisters car parked in front our house while she was living in China, and one of our neighbors so rudely left us a letter with the rules stating that no car was allowed to be parked in an area for more than 72 consecutive hours. We just switched the car from one side of the driveway to the other every 3 days lol. Every place is different, and if it's technically his property (which I highly doubt) then he has every right to not allow you guys to part there. But like I said, just check out your local laws, and you could always call the police department yourself to see whether or not he has the right.

theres no other signs on that side of the street tho, and he personally put the sign up... i watched him do it. and then he has the balls to just park there after he puts up the no parking sign? i mean come on... what is this moron thinking

Firstly, grow up and don't park by his shit just to cause problems. Secondly, who cares if he can or can't, I'm not sure it's a big deal. You have people over, tell them to park down the other side of the street.
Sure, he's being ridiculous, but having grown up in a busy resort town at the beach, I know what it's like not to be able to park in front of your own house. Can I just say, it sucks, and is really aggravating when he has to pay taxes. Namean? Don't be a douche just to be a douche

It's not like he can write a ticket or anything. Lots of places have laws that say signs need stickers showing approval by the state/county/whatever.

But if he put it up I doubt it would be recognized by the cops.

Grieves what you dont understand is that HE put the sign up, about a week ago and decides to park there today. I will not respect the man, it is not even his house he rents it and it is a three family house, hes not the only one living there. He has no right to put up phony signs when there is in fact parking in front of that particular house. And while moving my car i talked with the man about it and he said he put the sign up because theres a church about a block away and hes quote "sick of all the church-goers parking in front of his damn house" i thought it was silly and told him to have a nice day.
