I'd say to rock kickboxing or muay thai instead of karate, the workout alone is worth it.

My best was when I was 6ft 145lbs and could bench 210. I did this as part of a regular gym class one day on one day off lifting. I ran cross country, as well as in track. My bench came it handy when I decided that I wanted to do pole vault, where you have to be able to work out with your body weight, in reps 3 reps of 10. While I'm telling you, I also threw javelin. I really enjoyed that time in life. I don't care for running now, although I walk everywhere and hike alot. No idea what my bench would be these days. I'm sure I could still do my weight 150lbs.

who fucking cares how much you can bench. Bench means shit. I know guys who could bench over 350 and still have their ass kicked by kids who could only lift 175.

1 mile = 100 calories burned. Walk or run. You need both diet and exercise to lose a substantial amount of weight. Seeing as you need a 3500 deficit of calories to lose 1 pound.
