dude, soft drinks have been around for hundreds of years. coca-cola was invented in 1886. it became popular during prohibition becuase people were substituting their alcohol with soft drinks. thats of course, if they didnt go to speak-easy's to drink bath-tub gin and shit imported illegally north of the border.

I hope you all enjoy the PM's from him where he calls you a cop if you haven't gotten one yet.

Dr Pepper does not contain prunes and was introduced in 1885...

Root Beer has no standardized recipie and has been documented back much further...

Soda pop may have gained popularity during prohibition as a legal alternative but was not created during prohibition...

Stop spreading lies and propaganda for your pro weed rhetoric....If you want to spread truth than feel free, but your constant barrage of false info and spam tactics is doing nothing but ruining your own credibility...

Well I deleted the PM as soon as I responded to it, I've got enough junk almost filling my PM's to capacity to keep your rhetoric in there. The gist of it was me being a "lazy marijuana user" because I "wasn't calling radio stations requesting legalization" and was "in fact, probably a cop". Feel free to correct me if you've got the one you sent.

id say it gained popularity during prohibition as a way to hide the fact that you are drinking liquor by mixing it with soda. Just a theory.

Dr. Charles Taylor Pepper was the husband of my 2nd cousin 5 times removed.

If the legends are true ... Changes

Quote:
Dr Pepper is the oldest major soda/pop beverage in the United States. It was invented by pharmacist Charles Alderton in Waco, Texas in 1885 , predating Coca-Cola , Pepsi-Cola , and 7-up , among others.

There was, apparently, an actual human Dr. Pepper who became the namesake for the drink. But the doctor in question wasn't the same one traditionally credited. There are numerous historical records of a Dr. Charles T. Pepper in Rural Retreat, Virginia . Wade Morrison , owner of the pharmacy where Alderton worked, had formerly been employed by a Dr. Pepper in Virginia, presumably the well-documented Charles. Supposedly, Morrison was in love with Pepper's daughter and named the drink after his employer so he would let him marry her.

The trouble is that this doctor's daughter was only eight at the time, which is more than a bit young even by the standards of rural Virginia . And there's no evidence that Charles Pepper ever employed Morrison....

coca cola was popular during prohibition because it gave light buzz and was legal.
