mikey lives in BC too..

I think I would honestly kill myself if I had to work on an oil patch or rig or whatever. i would never want to leave the city. Consider taht you have a wife and (kid?) mikey, shit starts to go awry when you're out on business all the time..

yaeh honestly its not that hard to get a job. I usually take about a month in between jobs to just sort of chill and then I kick my ass into gear and apply to 3-4 places MAX before I get an interview.

I have never NOT gotten a job after getting an interview. I secretly think that employers just do interviews as sort of a last chance to back out on hiring someone, like if they're real dicks or are going to be COMPLETELY inappropriate for the job.

hey guys, if your interested in doing some hitches up north, it's not that hard.. search for some oil companies that operate in alaska, go to their website and they should have a list of open positions their hiring for.. Theyll fly you in for free, every week from wherever you live.. to be a manual laborer im pretty sure theres like a waiting list or something, but they got many other jobs that are alwys hiring, like kitchen helpers, cooks, cleaning people, etc..its really going by fast though because im busy all day, i cant believe ive been here for a week already.. one week from now ill be getting my check and taking my 2 week vacation lol..awesome job if you would like to travel. and inside the camp, it doesnt feel like your in a "camp" its like a big hotel. when you get off work you can shoot some hoops in the gym, watch a movie in the theatre, do whatever, its pretty good deal..

Boom towns in Northern BC and Alberta are rampid with drugs and alcohol. Lots of the statistics on violence, STIs, addiction and other things are multiples compared to other parts of the provinces, meaning their statistics spike into outer space.

This doesn't mean you can't live a 'normal' life there. I'm just saying it's a crazy place to live, but all the people I know that go and rig pig it for a while all enjoy it. A few will talk deeply about how they feel about doing it and what they have seen the earth look like, especially in the tar sands, because of how they have to be extracted.
