I didn't think about that as an option at first. I mean, NO form of meat production is humane, really, and after I'd been off meat awhile, I became just grossed out by the thought of eating meat at all. There's this new idea for lab grown meat, called "Shmeat" (I think it's a cross of "shit" and "meat") and I wouldn't even want to eat that, even if it was the best tasting meat ever. Meat just isn't food to me anymore.

Yeah but look at what you're taking as an alternative. No meat, so lots of veggies and grains right? Where do you get the veggies and grains? Unless you get that shit from a local market or something, you can guarantee that it's industrially farmed as well. That shit is just an inhumane when you know what it is doing to the earth.

yeah i agree. giving up eating meat as an ethical choice deserves props in my opinion but switching to monsanto's roundup ready soybeans has its own moral implications that i bet ppl dont even think about... and yet all kinds of evil from the destruction of natural ecosystems to the displacement of indigenous people and everything in between are involved in modern agricultural practices and are supported by every bite of tofuburger
not saying i have the solution but i try to grow as much as i can for both smoking and eating. but srsly now the president kills a fly and thats big news? why dont the media report on all his broken campaign promises? huh? |

I agree it is totally natural for humans to eat meat. My point is more that humans are at an age now where most of us have the resources and intelligence to thrive on a diet made up of plant based foods. When a lion kills a zebra it is about survival, with most humans it is more like a luxury (in rich countries anyways).
