Talk about lucky....
Got hung up at work today, ended up leaving about 10 minutes later than I normally do. Was 2 stops away when this happened.

no but seriously how the fuck do those two trains collide HEAD ON???? isn't there some sort of system in place to keep two trains from smashing into each other like that? i have this image in my head of some guy asleep at a computer with two blinking dots on the screen coming closer and closer together and a big warning light flashing.
this shit makes me not want to ride the metro. the red line is a death trap.

I heard head on but I'll check when I get to work...guy said that it happened I 05 too when the warning signal didn't go off but the operators were able to see each other and stop...this time they were going around a curve and couldn't see each other

Yea, it was a rear end collision. These trains seem to do the same stacking procedure for any crash. The Woodley Park crash a few years ago ended up pretty much the same way even though they started differently:
![]() The real shit kicker is that I had planned to chalk up today as a free day off to smoke doobs but my boss called last night and told me I had to be in an hour earlier than I normally would so I can cover reception during some meeting. And I'm not even the receptionist. |
