experience vs control

so me and my brother grew up together, same house, same parents yet where total polar opposites. i love recreational drugs and he has never even tasted alcohol. my brothers only 2 years older then me and hes got a full academic scholarship to college on the mainland but no friends, no life he just plays Magic all day.

anyway we where having a conversation about drug use and he was saying that he avoids drug use because he values control over experience and i use drugs because i value experience over control. that led me to think that my brother is in denial because chemicals effect him every day and he has less control over them by choosing not to be involved with his own brain/body chemistry with the use of chemicals.

but i bet his argument to that would be that im in denial about the health effects of chemical use................

idk what does yahooka think?

seretonin, dopamine, etc etc

the same chemicals drugs mimic to create an effect inside the body. i get what hes saying.

i dunno man. people can make all sorts of excuses but really i can respect if he wants control over his mind. drugs can take that control away, plain and simple. if its his preference not to engage drug use thats his preference, no excuses need to be made.

and on the flipside if its your preference to take drugs same thing. its a choice. no better and no worse involved.

there's a difference between the chemicals in your own body affecting you and affecting yourself with chemicals outside of your body.

do you know how drugs affect inhibitors in your brain that release natural chemicals?

you have receptors in your brain, their function is to catch chemicals that your brain naturally releases. drugs mimic these natural chemicals and bind to your receptor sites, creating a high. thats how all drugs work.

now what stonerkid is saying is that his brother is not as familiar with his body chemistry as he is, basically. which i dont know if i agree with, but i see what hes saying. by exposing yourself to these chemicals you do get to know how your body works and you can sort of analyze your body and mind in ways that you couldnt if you didnt take drugs. (like psychedelics for example)

^ clarify. please. which chemicals. I expect you to answer with something really petty and you're probably missing the entire point of what I feel your bro's argument is.

And waves, good job, you just provided SK with some material to come at his brother with.

Do the thinking for yourself.

why not focus more on the acceptance you each have for your own respective way of life than the denial that appears when considering his opposing way from your own vantage? you're both probably happy enough

and people still play magic???

your so bitter hyperfukbot!
anyway by chemicals im talkin like the chemicals in the air you breathe or the food you eat. For example say you breathe air A as opposed to air B, the both have a different chemical makeup therefore influencing your brain/body chemistry differently.

I don't lose control when doing drugs, unless it's a modest loss of motor control (in which case, I don't drive). Why is it either/or?
