Everyone has the right idea but nothing will change unless thousands of people decide to physically do something about. But its only getting harder to do that and getting easier to talk about it. Thats there master plan so that the money making never stops. God forbid the son of a multi trillion air has to bus tables. But why should they stop? I dont think anyone cares enough about it to start a revolution so until citizens start to think for themselves and wonder why? Were in for a long road ahead. But as long as I get to go to my job and make my money the world can go to hell.

revolutions very rarely work out well.

Just let it go, either the planet will be just fine or we'll all get blown up in the blink of an eye, won't even notice.

the truth of things is pretty boring.

we started out as a tribal war like species interested in plundering and fucking, and over the years we have grown slightly less so, and over even more years we might evolve past the plundering and fucking stage but as of now we're still knee deep in primitive ego pandering bullshit like racism and prejudice. people love to elevate themselves over others for reasons like their religon is better or their skin is a better color or whatever.

personally i think we've done an ok job considering our roots. the planet is in relatively stable condition and things are only getting better. if you think of it in terms of its only been about 5000 years since we've been recording our history out of the millions of years we've been alive we're still a young species. super-intelligent aliens still visit us and laugh that we dont know they exist. (alright i made that one up but it could be true)

and if we were going to blow ourselves up, i think the 60's would have been it.

i was actually looking something like this up the other day, and anthropologists believe that there hasn't been a time of peace since around 4000 B.C.

going back to the stepfather talk mentioned earlier, thats basically it. people love power. humans are an extremely proud animal, and love to show that they have power, what better way than winning a war.

the governments are obviously the ones who call the shots, not the citizens. it's just mind numbing how many people believe everything the govt does is right.
i seriously doubt there will ever be a time of peace as long as humans are still around. we're waging war against our own planet right now. what the fuck?

It's religion... Religion is what keeps the world at constant war and strife.

get rid of religion (none of which are true anyway) and you take a huge step towards world peace..

it's true..

think about it.. approach the accomplishment of a peaceful world and get rid of a bunch of life controlling lies at the same time!! Wow!

Isn't it quite clear that other than a little racism, other countries get along just fine?

I remember having chinese penpals in middle school and some of my classmates went to china for the summer, couldn't we not get any more hospitality from each other? Who is really making the decision to drop the bombs? Is it the citizens or the government? Can some one clear this up for me, I just don't understand, why would any one support huge wars without a good reason?

In my eyes, I see war as organized crime being carried out by people that are power hungry.
After 10,000 years of civilization, humanity still can't figure out (collectively) that war is a bad idea. That's like being hit in the face 10 billion times and still not knowing why it hurts. People are too irrational, at their core, to ever "get it". We really are more animal than angel.

To be fair, it's 10,000 years of humanity vs. millions of years of territorial instinct.

I think that the idea of one big government to control us all is fucking scary! Holy crap. That's the last thing we want... right now we are all screwed and gov't is the last thing we need. We need people to come together, in a way that de-centralizes power back to the people. I don't know yet how it could work in such a way to keep the ones who desire power for power's sake (because they do and always will exist, thanks SageTree) but the only way we can prevent it from happening is DEFINITELY to cooperate as citizens. I think the whole "globalization" of our world is totally backwards. We no longer rely on our land as a source of life. It is now just this big chunk of rock, trees, plants, animals, soil, etc (individual things, note) which we commodocize and and extract and sell for a nonexistent number on a piece of paper (which in our backwards economy is supposed to be worth more than the tree or rock or whatever it is made from or is bought with it is actually is worth). We need to finally universally recognize that the earth is a living thing that we are a part of. We need to not only cooperate with each other, we MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST cooperate with the land.

I know this is a bit all over the place, but i tried to work it all together from my head, sometimes that can be hard.

dude that is ignant. democratized? democracy is a fallacy, there is no possible way that one person or even a government of hundreds could EVER represent even 1% of the "public interest", nevermind the fact that the concept of a "public interest" is also a mathematical impossibility.

We need an answer other than democracy before we can go anywhere positive.

^Democracy is more then having a few Senators that represent the masses. It's the entire mindset that it brings to the people under it's illustrious forces. Reality percieved is reality indeed.

were to start...

First, I think almost everyone thats posted in this thread has tied in the word power with some evil greedy lust for money and hoez! What is power really? To have control over something, right? Well I sure enjoy controling things. I love being able to control this keyboard so I can explain myself to you all! I love controling a girls hips and emotion as we fuck! I love controling my business so I can create wealth for myself and my community! Power, in the most general of senses isn't inherenly evil or bad. I feel that needs to be said.

As far as war goes...you know...humans are generational. People die and their kids kids forget stuff. We all know it's one thing to of been told how something is and then another thing to experience it. I think people in our ruling class are perfect examples of this. I think they all was to be remembered as some Shakespearian figure. They are willing to sacrifice one generation for the next weather that be with good or bad intentions; depending on the person in question.

Sure.

Lets use the US as our example...

America is a Republic, right? Well not everyone knows that. Many people, in my experience, believe that the US is a Democracy. Well thats not correct is it.

I believe that people assume, living under a democratic structure, that everything needs to be fair and equal.

If we have 10 citizens each who own a piece of equal sized land but only one of those people have water on their land, under the name of "DEMOCRACY!", the 9 people would out vote the 1 and sieze his property. The idea of an innate fairness and equality is dangerous by it's sheer percieved reality!

of course. that's the point, correct?

Also, to clarify, I do not think power itself is inherantly evil. some people are natural leaders and obviously we need power to make sure we survive and to can do things (like fuck and write on the computer and grow stuff etc.). I think it's just our relationship with power which needs to be changed.
