Lollapalooza Gay?

Lollapalooza 2009 Lineup

this year lollapalooza has a pretty sick line up, and im pretty interested, but am kinda wondering about the lameness of the crowd. I read up a bit and it seems wayyy too anti drug for a festival for me and the crowd seems really fuckin gay, also place seems way too crowded.

Anyone been to lollapalooza and know what its like?

Also im desperately in need of a psychedelic concert experience so if anyone knows of any festies or anything that havent passed let me know whats up...

Lolla def has the best lineup outa them all this year too.

there's tons of small festivals all over the place that are cheap and loaded with psychadellics. Kids tour them now instead of following a band. Also smaller festivals tend to have less security. Go, trip out, make new local connections and maybe discover some great bands you've never heard of.

Editt: since you're in Jersey, the two stand out large festivals in the NE are Gathering of the vibes in bridgeport (great festy, shitty venue) and camp bisco (great venue, shitty festy) But like I said the small festivals are the way to go. You're far less likely to get subpar drugs at smaller ones.

lollapalooza is fun with or without drugs, but if you want to do drugs i doubt anyone would stop you if your smart about it. that lineup does look pretty sick

man i didnt know you were in jersey why go all the way to chicago for lolla?

take kits advice hit up a few smaller fests for the same price you would pay for lolla or rothbury, and you'll have a much better time with much better people and drugs

a brief note on security at larger festivals of the NE: Camp Bisco is at Indian Lookout Country Club, which is owned and operated by a large contingent of bikers. I have never seen a police officer at ILCC. They will however make you wait in line for about 8 hours so they can search you, down to searching your pockets. They won't take small amounts of drugs, but if you have say an ounce of molly, a pound of herb or a nitrous tank, it will become their property. There are cops at Seaside Park in Bridgeport where the vibes is. They won't bother you though, they're very glad to have a break from investigating gang shootings and busting up crack rings. There is almost no festival security. Lots of people go to the Vibes and just break in. You won't be allowed near the music, but they broadcast everything on the radio. There are some downsides though. Lots of people smoking rock, nitrous tanks keeping you up ALL NIGHT, shitty people robbing each other, etc.

Herb which date are you going to? I'm pumped because last year I ended up having to miss Sage Francis. This year it's Cypress Hill, Cube and GZA that I'm missing and I'm less concerned. Had it been 15 years ago I might be concerned about missing them.
