Getting my first motorcycle!

I'm pretty pumped! I have always wanted one and next month i will be purchasing this :

Its a 1988 honda cbr 600... 30,000 miles and it looks like its in good shape. I will sell my sister my car for 1,000$ and buy this for 700$ I'm really excited and i was wondering if any riders on hooka know anything about the permit test and insurance

somebody once told me that most crotch rockets are just a great way to get the idiots to eliminate themselves from the world.

i dunno how i feel about that though, i can see how'd it be appealing to get a bike, but then again the pro's outweigh the cons, like weather - passangers - cargo, ionno depends what youll used it for.

enjoy it by all means though if thats what u want.

take a safety course, it will qualify you for a motorcycle endorsement without even having to take a test or anything at the DMV. also it gets you an insurance discount.

be careful man, I'm out there on the streets too, and I'm sure you know toastyroach is too.

dude ever since I started riding my dual-sport, mopeds just aren't the same anymore. at least my bike is loud and I can control where I want to be around cars and I can get out of blind spots.

with mopeds it's one speed, and that's full throttle. if you're in some ones blind spot, the only thing you can do is slow down, which isn't always great option in case of emergency.

as for saving gas, not really cause registration, insurance, and buying the bike takes a lot out of it. in the long run, maybe, in the short run.. nope.

Ahh the old "jelly mould" cbr600. A fine bike.

Bit rapid for a first bike, I would maybe have gone for a 250 or something.

insurance is 400 a year, gas is ten bucks every 2 weeks... the bike only cost 700 so how is that the same as a car in the long run? its the way to go.... plus i have always wanted one they look fun as all hell. fuck the haters, bikes are nuts and im just crazy enough to drive one. if i get hurt, oh well shit happens.

umm, registration, license plate, sales tax, etc...
it just ends up being a little more expensive.

except you're buying a $700 bike, so I guess this is an exception.

you seam to have a good outlook for riding a motorcycle. why don't you just ride because you can and enjoy it? take a safety class man, I'm serious. if you say no because can't afford it, you probably shouldn't be riding. That bike's general maintenance cost will easily cost you the price of the whole bike in the long run.

The two whole weeks I've had my bike I've already replaced a $15 tachometer cable, $66 carburetor holders, and $80 brake shoes front and back. that's already 1/5th the total price of my bike and there's MUCH more to come.
