"My water just broke and I'm going into labour!"

This was someone's status on my facebook I read today.

What an age we live in.

I remember I think it was Russell Simmons's wife tweeted the whole way through her labour.

It's good to know that the average American's commitment to being an attention whore is reaching the level of discipline normally only seen in a severe obsessive compulsive. At least we're still #1 at something.

Why is that considered being an attention whore? Maybe she has family and close friends she'd like to let know she's going into labor.

i find this an attempt at attention, as the water almost never breaks before labor.

most of the time its broken by doctors.

ive done a lot of reading about labor

So? My sister, and a friend, both within the last two months had babies, and their water BROKE on it's OWN.

"Almost always" please, every pregnancy and labor is individual.

That's a lot different though...

Perhaps my knowledge of a woman's psychology at the beginning child birth is limited, but I would think that after her water broke, she'd first think of getting the fuck to a hospital rather posting a message on Facebook.

GHM's arrest, anyone?

My cousin did the same thing when her water broke in June.
I understand it, it's the same as calling all of your friends on the way to the hospital.
Especially since no one needs a computer to access Facebook Mobile.
She could have done it -and probably did- in the car while she was on her way to force a child through her beef curtains.

Seriously, if I wanted to I could just throw the next gay guy I come across right up against a wall and give him an anal assault and he wouldn't complain one bit.

^Bearsy's got it.

Cerpin...after the water breaks...it could take hours before the baby is born....i'm talking 24 hrs...maybe longer. Just because the amniotic sack has ruptured, doesn't mean labor is immediately emanate (i think that's the word i want). That's movie talk right there..."OMG my water broke...OMG here comes the baby!" Um, nope.

I'd say it's not your lack of understanding a woman's psychology, just your lack of understanding much about labor and birth.

Also, FYI, alot of times, it's just a trickle, especially at the begining, not a gushing tidal wave of fluid.

You know a woman with a ruptured sack is going to be looking for a little payback.
