The maximum amount of marijuana for "personal use" under the new law is 5 grams — the equivalent of about four joints. The limit is a half gram for cocaine, the equivalent of about 4 "lines." For other drugs, the limits are 50 milligrams of heroin, 40 milligrams for methamphetamine and 0.015 milligrams for LSD.

i read the main purpose of the decriminalization is to stop the practice of crooked mexican police extorting money out of tourists who have small amounts of drugs.

i guess you might say they will have more effort towards fighting cartels, but the cartels are so strong , well armed and funded i think its going to take some change in american drug laws to affect the cartels. quite frankly i think trying to fight the cartels is just stupid in the first place, you try to fight them and there is only blood shed, if by the small chance you do win other smaller, more violent cartels will step up and have to war over the new territory. let them do what they do and at least you have peace. i guess the only real "solution" is to accept that people will use drugs ,legalize them, and invest resources into drug treatment and education.

^You'd be surprised. Last time I was there I was able to cop some really nice mids for dirt cheap. I'm sure if I knew somebody I would of been able to get even better shit. Just dont ride on the highways with it because the trucks full of soldiers will stop you, search you, and then ur fucked. Who carries only 5 grams?
