Where can I buy an old fashioned washboard?

I've been playing in a folk-punk band for a few months now, and we're looking to add someone playing the washboard for percussion. Does anyone know where the hell to buy these? Someone told me wal mart, but that sounds weird...

for that one it's $10.45.

You do have to be careful to check shipping...

sometimes it's free.

I don't have a credit card or anything. Do you know what kind of store might have it? There's a few hardware stores here...Do you think they'd have them?

Oh, flea market is a good idea. I'd definitely check out the hardware stores though. The older, small townish ones would be best.

you're asking where to buy something on an internet forum and you're expecting a local answer?

I fail to see your logic.

How do you live not buying things on the internet?
For example, I saw there was the same Co2 paintball tank at the store for $40 when it was $15 online with free shipping.
Besides, PayPal doesn't require a credit/debit card.

Uh, yes it does... where the fuck do you think the money comes from?

Someone who doesn't carry debit/credit probably wouldn't have their accounts linked to paypal.

I'm thinking someone doesn't know what a debit card is.

^^ what Spanky and the gang said.

All you need is a checking account ,to set up a paypal account.

I did some checking on the web, and there aren't many if any "real" hardware stores in LA.

Hardware stores like Ace and True Value, Home Depot, Lowes....Those are hardware stores for contractors and rich aristocrats...

not simple survivors/farmers like here in PA.

sorry you only have the "HollowWood" type hardware stores.

most ebay listings come up with antique in the title or text, so second hand shops, antique/thrift type shops (not antique traders, there's a big diff.).

a hardware store would indeed have to be rural, washboards went out when my mother was a little girl.

wringer washers were a big deal.

You could cut up a piece of corrugated steel pipe and make your own if you can't find an actual washboard.

osirus is closest. Idk about corrugated steel pipe?
You can get sheets of corrugated metal roofing, but depending on your selection you might not be able to get the right size.
Junkyardjunkyardjunk yard. Grab a pair of metal shears and get lookin. A lot of old shit was made with corrugated metal, so you'll be able to look for a better size. (what I mean by size is the stuff for corrugated roofs has usually too big a gap to make it playable).

Folk punk doesn't use washboards.

you could make a washboard out of construction paper and popsicle sticks, and grind your teeth into a microphone

The metal roofing would be a lot easier to work with, but I think as you get smaller diameter tubing the corrugations get smaller as well.
