i totaled my car

some dude decided to speed through a late yellow/red while i was making a left hand turn and literally flipped my car over

it felt like that movie crash

the guy was driving on a suspended licsence and has no insurance, he got arrested on the spot. i still got a fuckin ticket for failure to yeild because i started my left hand turn on a yellow light that turned red when i was done with my turn, at which point the dude t-boned me. i thought he was gonna stop for the red light so its technically my fault?

Yeah it sounds like it was your fault. I know what you mean when you said you thought he was going to stop for the light but sometimes people just gotta be idiots. Glad to hear you're alright, sounds like an awful accident.

Just make sure you're very firm with the insurance company and don't tolerate any of their bullshit. Accidents suck and insurance companies make it even worse.

The insurance is the only thing im worried about at this point because even though he did pass through the intersection on a red light, its still technically my fault because its state law that people turning have to wait for all oncoming traffic to stop.

technicality is such bullshit though. it ignores the reality of what i went through, which is that the light was yellow for me and red for him.

im still going to get a nice claim, so says the police and insurance people, but my premiums are going to go up for a few years and now im forced to drive like a nanny while i wait for em to go back down.

the best part was my bowl was on my lap, i hadnt taken a hit yet, i just let it chill there until i find a nice spot to toke. when i got hit i looked for it but couldnt find it, then there were like 7-8 cops all lookin in my car and stuff, and afterwords, i go into my car to get my stuff out, the cops had left my bowl just sitting on my drivers seat. hadnt said a word about it.

i dont know about cops where yall live but im in a very rich conservative area and that was like the highlight of the whole ordeal for me. not all cops are douches i suppose. they could have made a huge fuckin deal about that and got me in some trouble but i was clearly not under the influence so maybe they just let it fly.

Upside down? That's pretty hardcore. That's way better than that dumb ass movie. When I lived in Hollywood we got hit by like 3 unlicensed (possibly illegal) drivers...but hell, we also did like 4 hit and runs haha. L.A. is very dog eat dog driving.

If your insurance company settles with your for jack shit I would consider either suing the driver or trying to settle with them to help replace your car. He is uninsured and driving on a suspended license, so you have some chances. I only recommend that because your car is always worth less totaled than it is when you buy it (

Do not buckle to your insurance company!

If you have an agent, talk to him/her about the incident and see what can be done. The fault lies on the part of the other driver 100%, no ifs ands or buts, had he not been violating his order of suspension he would have been on the bus. It is the other drivers fault COMPLETELY! Tell that to the judge when you appear on the ticket. Had the other driver been properly licensed and insured it would be one thing but since he wasn't even supposed to be on the road its his fault, like from the time he opened the car door at home.

i like your advice man, but one thing

if i pay the ticket, its 75 bucks and my insurance goes up

if i go to court, i can get it dismissed and i dont think anything happens on insurance because i have no liability in the accident.

however, if the judge does not agree, they tack on court fines so i could be paying 75 dollars plus about 300 dollars just for showing up and wasting their time.

if you seriously think this can work im going to research this option. can anybody else comment on what oneder is saying here? it sounds good but i dont want to end up paying a few extra hundred dollars if hes wrong.
