As in the "different things" are just new tracks to play?. To justify charging full price (here anyway) for something that takes literally no effort to make (they're adding new tracks, not scripting a whole awesome level in 3D, for example. It'll take minutes to do each track) is a successful scam imo.

I could be missing something, but each pack just gives you new songs, and a few different rendered characters to play as, no? Not technically different things to do persay, other than guitar/bass/drums?

well no as of rock band 2 you can create your own characters, but like i said there are songs available for download and they cost something like $1.25 a pop (maybe more it's been a while). whether that's worth it or not is up for debate and hinges on personal opinion, but let's take rock band 2 as an example. it has 84 tracks and at 1.25 a piece that would run you 105 bucks. so it's actually a "good deal"

to me, playing a different song is something different to do. sure the interface is the same but changing that would be confusing

It's cool if you enjoy it, but you have to agree that whoever owns the rights is laughing their tits off all the way to the bank, other than overlaying mp3's, literally the only thing they're doing is rearranging parts of the game script, they dont physically add anything really = profit.

indeed...I can play real music with my friends whenever I want...I don't want a video game simulation of something I enjoy doing on a regular basis in reality. I want to kill people and blow shit up in my fake video game life.

sounds like every sports game that comes out once a year with an updated roster

its a pretty standard trick in the game industry

i hate rockband but thats only because im so invested in real music, i spend 6 hours a day working with pro tools last thing i want to do is press some silly buttons on some silly plastic instrument

I remember an article on yahoo awhile ago how game creators have gamers addicted for life.

It's like WoW. I thought about playing it cause I had two friends who played it. So I went to bestbuy to look at it and if I were to get all the updates and just one month of play it would add up to something like $190...

Then on top of the money you would end up spending the more you play it.. Seriously blizzard is making bank of WoW nerds. They charge something like $15/month when in reality it probably costs them .01c/player to run the servers.

oOoOOo "pro tools." worked with ron jeremy yet?

the game is obv not made for musicians but a brother of mine who is p damn good on drums is seriously looking to join a band thanks to this game. good for him

and for all you musicians out there maybe someday you can upload your tracks to the rockband store, make some money off it and share your music with a wide audience. it's in the works

anyone who sits in their living room playing a fake plastic toy in exchange for the real thing is probably a virgin

the people that just want to play videogames are great, im talking about someone who has actual talent with something ala skating/music and chooses to ignore that in favor of some pixelated simulation

nobody who skates is going to play that lame tony hawk game, unless they are 13 years old

no real musicians like rock band

i know this

southpark pretty much nailed why these games suck so hard 2 seasons ago...

It involves no creativity, just memorization of what buttons to mash, its all about rhythm training not training of notes, creating a dumbed down consumer that thinks they are doing something unique when all they are doing is copying the click click click click click click that is pre-programmed...

na that's chill because that was way back and that was one of the first interactive video games where you use your whole body. that's what made the wii and the ps2 motion sensor so famous when it first came out. now they're moving onto bigger and better things. if the video game market can find one thing that people like, they will beat it to death, it's just how it is. that's why I still play counter-strike to this day.
