yeah i get what you mean and it is about me. living in Georgia has always made me miserable.Im originally from new york and my dad moved me to GA when i was 9 and i hated it and moved away to Florida with my mother when i was 13. she moved to michigan to follow her bum bf a little over a year ago and i stayed there with her for a week before i decided i hated it and moved here with my dad. it wasnt florida but it was closer than before. i took a road trip to orlando with a GA friend of mine a few months back and she said that she saw me just light up and i was different than she had ever seen me like as soon as i could smell the ocean and see some palm trees. i feel at home there. and yeah of course its a little about him. i miss him all the time and this long distance thing is killing the both of us. we know we can make it work cuz when we are together things are just about perfect.

I knew I wanted to leave, for a while, so I told my mom I got a good summer job over in Fort McMurray in AB then a few weeks later I told her I signed a 6 month lease and there was no other way to have shelter and by then yeah ive been on my own ever since

If you can't figure out how to tell a parent you're going to move out, I'm going to say it's a safe bet you aren't ready to live on your own.

I understand some parents won't take it as well as they should or take it at all for that matter. That is however part of being the adult you wish to be viewed as, assessing situations and doing the best you can do to garner a positive outcome. If you can't deal with how your father will react to the news let alone figure out a way to tell him I'd hate to see how you'll handle things when you run into actual problems.

told him a little while ago. 1st he was yelling "are you fucking kidding me" alot and saying when i walk out the door im dead to him. then he said i cant leave cuz he will physically not let me walk out the door cuz he will beat the shit out of me. I told him that even if i walk out the door with a black eye and bloody nose im still leaving. I proceeded to go to my room to pack my shit. he then calls me out of my room to ask me what to do with a ticket to a cruise the family is supposed to go on (including me) in February. i asked him if he could just cancel my ticket and he sad he cant. so then i asked him if he wanted me to pay him back for the ticket and he said no that he wants me to just come not for him but for my little sisters who are going to be devastated that i am leaving. so i guess all in all i went a little better than i expected. i hope he will eventually get over not wanting me in his life cuz i do want him in mine

About your cruise deal I would just go with him, it's not like you have to live with your father to go. If you don't make a big deal about going/not going it could, potentially, show him that even though you have moved out you still value his company (or at least your families company).

On top of it all, it's still a free cruise. '

are you his oldest daughter? i have daughters and i can only imagine the kind of things that would be going through my head if they ever told me they were leaving. there would definitely be a good bit of anger on such short notice also, but i don't know if this kind of reaction might be common from him and that's why you put off telling him for so long. i only hope i'm raising them to know they can always be open and honest with me (or at least their mother for the more touchy things, but i hope they could talk with me as well). just know he's showing how much he cares for you even though it might not seem like it.
