how would you react to your daughter telling you that she's leaving the nest to live with her boyfriend a couple days before she's set to leave? i'm not saying he's right but it's understandable at least.

Well I certainly wouldn't threaten to beat the shit out of her or tell her she's dead to me the second the door hits her in the ass.

There is also a difference between being angered by the short notice and presumptuousness of what I'm sure he views as a naive 19 year old girl and ranting and raving like a child.

lol yeah the old fashioned note. times have changed.

verk: yeah i am the oldest. hes got 3 little ones with my stepmom. he has done alot for me and i understand his anger. he was only 23 when my mom tricked him into getting her preggers and he stepped up alot more than any father i know. he went to college and he took care of me more than my mother did even tho she had custody. he has a short and violent temper but he is a good guy and a great dad. i know this is hurting him and i dont know how to fix that.

there's nothing you can do really, you're both his daughter and your own woman. sooner or later he will realize that. by the time you come visit i'm sure he will be glad to see you. i know from experience that a dad can never stay mad at his daughter for long

UPDATE:so im pretty sure i just got his "blessing" i guess. He asked me to tell him everything i have learned from him and he told me he is worried as shit and doesnt think i am prepared to "start my life on my own". then he told me he wants me to make him be proud of where i am and what im doing one year from today.

he must really care for you if leaving upsets him so much.

dont get angry back at him just keep your cool and be respectful about it and he will calm down. it is pretty unfair to drop the bomb on him and then leave so soon, you should have at least mentioned it months before hand so that he knows what to expect and you are leaving in a respectful way and maybe he wouldnt be so shocked and upset

edit: ah ok after reading da thread a bit i see that it worked itself out, very good.
