When you are expecting a child, there's pretty much no reason in the world there shouldn't be a smile on your faces.

the sickness feeling will get better, but then as the belly gets bigger she will be more uncomf in bed

like they said, stock up on diapers and wet wipes (get the extra moisture ones)

and absolutely stock up on sleep

make the baby room before her belly gets too big because then she wont be able to do much afterwards

and twards the end (9th monht) when her belly is as big as it gets and she cant take it no more (right before her due date), have plenty of sex and come inside her for a few days in a row

Seamen (sp?) makes her woumb contract and brings labor quicker.

But dont do that early in the pregnancy cause u r risking premature birth

(a tip from our ob gyn, that i definatly took advantage off)

Congratulations! Check out Ina Mae Gaskin's book Spiritual Midwifery.

And Peace seeker, no offense meant, but I must respectfully disagree with you about the no antibiotics thing. I knew someone who was pregnant, got sick, refused antibiotics and the baby was born hearing-impaired, as a direct result of the untreated illness.

Yeah congratulations man, the whole pregnancy thing is quite an experience, but just wait til the baby pops out.. it's like WOAH ITS MY GOD DAMNED BABY! WOO hoo! My little girl is already over a year old and it's amazing to watch her grow - here's hoping you have an intelligent and energetic one.

As far as smoking weed while pregnant, I really can't say for 100% but from the reading I've done it seems that THC doesn't make it into the fetus, but a few of the other cannabanoids do, but what their effect is, is indeterminate. My female accomplice smoked pot while she was pregnant and I know that the baby turned out perfectly. She's bright as hell and figures things out you wouldn't imagine a baby would be able to do.

Here's food for thought, if smoking weed during pregnancy fucks your baby up, how come Jamaica has such low rates of children with learning deficiencies? I dunno. Who the fuck knows? No one. It's a personal choice, but honestly I wouldn't recommend your girlfriend smoking it. Mine did but that was her choice and she felt that it helping her. Let intuition take the reins here.

And don't worry about the kid consuming your whole life. For the first few months it will take up all your time, but eventually things get easier. At this point in my life I'm more productive when it comes to 'my' things than I've ever been. You just have to work harder than usual, and I dont think theres anything wrong with that.

Also another random tip? Don't look at her vagina while she's giving birth or you will be HAUNTED by that image and that smell for months. It's a very intense thing to witness but.... yeah my penis was deathly afraid of it for quite some time

al: it's the real deal homie.

sir-ex: heh! thanks for the kind words of advice. I'm not too worried about the baby consuming my life, I've resigned to that fate and i embrace that whole heartily. MY girl never smoked a whole lot of weed anyways and has had once toke so far while preggo and that was before she realized she was pregnant (it worked surprisingly well). I've also heard that about the birthing process and I've been desensitizing myself by watching birth videos, looking up pictures, etc. I've also been reading hella books on the pregnancy, delivering the baby, baby's first year etc. I'm pretty sure that if i had to, i could deliver this baby. But i'm going to leave it in the hands of the pro's.

Congrats mate! I have no advice but here's some wise words on children from the prophet. They struck a chord with me and I think a lot of parents these days would do well to understand them.

Good times, well wishes!

Quote:
Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls, For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far. Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness; For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable
- Khalil Gibran
